The Police Tactical Group, one component of the Territory Response Division and commonly referred to as Task Force, arrived from Alice Springs just as Sam, and Foley were finishing their breakfast.
The Lenco BearCat armoured vehicle pulled up at the southern end of the access road leading to the Wauchope Hotel. Eight crew members, all clad in black tactical clothing complete with balaclavas covering their faces, climbed out and immediately formed themselves in defensive positions surrounding their ride. To anyone other than a member of the police force—an unsuspecting tourist perhaps—it had to be an intimidating sight.
