Peter Crowl wants to shake his hand, but the man ignores him. Nicholas raises his eyebrows, not understanding what is going on. He smiles at the man: “What can we do for you?” The man does not smile back. He takes various documents out of his briefcase and hands Nicholas his business card first. “Mr. Anderson, please sign a document.” Then he hands him a document. It is a marriage annulment certificate. Peter Crowl looks at the document in disbelief: “Annulment?” Toban looks at him coldly: “Well, the one-night stand was before the marriage, and the marriage was never consummated. Therefore, a divorce is unnecessary. In addition, their only contact during this marriage was at the hospital when her grandfather was undergoing surgery. Please sign.” Nicholas looks at the lawyer: “Why does she want a divorce?” He looks at the lawyer and explains, “I'll call her.” The lawyer grimaces and replies, "Ah, and what number would you like to call? To my knowledge, my client was dragged out of her apartment—there are surveillance videos showing that she had nothing with her. After that, she was no longer in her apartment because she couldn't get out of the property. But please...“ He makes a gesture with his hand... ”Try to reach her.“ Nicholas frowns, ”Why couldn't she get out of the family estate?" He asks Torben to wait a moment and leaves the office with Peter. Nicholas looks at him: “What's going on?” Peter shrugs, but then says, “We can check her expenses to see if she went shopping.” Peter pulls out his cell phone and calls up the bank information. Then he frowns: “She didn't withdraw any money or pay with her credit card.” Nicholas calls his mother and asks, “I can't reach Leila, please get her on the phone.” After the answer reaches him, he hangs up. My mother hasn't seen her today. Please look into it. I want to know what's going on here, and I want it in half an hour.“ He goes back in and asks Torben, ”Why does she want to cancel? Everything is wonderful." Torben stares at him. In his mind, he sees the results of the investigation. He clenches his teeth: “If there's anything human in them, sir, then you should sign this immediately.” Nicholas stares at the lawyer in confusion and says, “I don't know what you mean.” Torben: "Sign it, or I'll take you to court. It's your decision.“ Nicholas pushes the document away and declares, ”Do you know who I am? You can't threaten me." Torben pulls out a laptop and plays the first video, which shows Leila being drugged and taken to a hotel room. Nicholas turns pale. Then he clicks on the next video, which shows photos of the rescue team. A mattress in the attic and a blanket full of holes. Another new video showing photos of her back. Another new video showing footage from his estate, showing Leila cleaning and being supervised by a butler, Leila cooking, doing laundry, being abused by his mother, his sister, and his girlfriend. By now, he is pale as a ghost. He stares at Torben and says, “I didn't know anything about this.” Torben stares back at him coldly, “Shouldn't a man know something like this if he cared about his wife?” Nicholas pulls the document toward him and signs it. The lawyer packs up the letter and explains, "I'll send you a copy. Good day.“ He is almost at the door when Nicholas asks, ”Where is she now and how is she?“ Torben doesn't even turn around as he replies, ”As if her well-being was ever relevant to you. Did you even see her as a human being?" He leaves the office and nod to the secretary. Peter approaches him and pauses before continuing into the office. “Mr. Gillian, I really admire your work. Maybe we could meet sometime and discuss a few cases.” Torben's face shows only contempt: “I only meet with people.”
Peter pauses, then continues walking and sees Nicholas sitting there, pale as a ghost. He immediately runs over to him. “What did he do to you?” Nicholas doesn't look at him, then stands up: “Let's go home.” Peter nods and explains on the way that he hasn't been able to find out anything yet. Nicholas shakes his head and sits in the car with a grim expression on his face. Meanwhile, his thoughts are racing through his head: “How could this happen? What exactly happened and how can the recordings be correct? Where is she now?” He tries to remember how she was at the hospital and can only recall that she had been very pale. He runs his hands through his hair. When they arrive at the estate, the two men get out of the car. Nicholas waves one of the bodyguards over and whispers something in his ear. Then they all enter the estate. Without paying attention to anyone, Nicholas climbs the stairs to the attic and opens the old wooden door. Peter follows him and when he sees the mattress with the holey blanket, he gasps. Nicholas's heart aches and he feels uncomfortable. She really did live here. For two years. He closes his eyes, but the image is burned into his brain. Peter takes a deep breath and asks, “What's that mattress doing here, and who sleeps here? It must be freezing in winter.” Nicholas doesn't answer. He turns around and goes down the stairs. Downstairs, the bodyguard hands him a stick. He flicks it with his finger: “Laptop.” Peter hands him a laptop and they both sit down in the quiet house and open the surveillance tapes. They see Leila's hell and Peter has tears in his eyes. They see Leila being beaten with bamboo sticks by the women and blood running down her back. They see her doing the housework and how all the servants and the butler do nothing but guard her.
