Rebirth of the Omega

CHAPTER TWO

Lyraaa! Anna shouted once more, this time knocking on the door of her room ferociously. Lyra quickly put on some clothes and rushed out of her room. “you’re late again” Anna said smirking.

“Oh no, she’s gonna kill me” Anna said with a look of fear on her face.

“Don’t worry, I told her you caught a cold last night” Anna says smiling as she tries to catch up with Lyra who was almost running. She was the only person who stood by Lyra since the death of her parents.

“Wait up” she says running to catch up with Lyra who was already some meters ahead of her.

The last time Lyra arrived at the kitchen late the punishment she received had her working for a week with only few hours of rest each day. Lyra could not afford to be late, especially not today. The alpha of the pack, Troy had informed the members of the pack that he and his luna, Eira, had an announcement to make.

“Where have you been?” the head of the maids screamed at Lyra immediately she got into the kitchen, she sounded mad.

“I…., I……, I had to………” Lyra stammered as she tried to explain herself but she couldn’t.

“You’re lucky you still live here and not on the streets” the head of the maids added as she looked at Lyra with disgust.

“It won’t happen again ma’am” Anna said trying to defend Lyra.

“Get to work” the head of the maids screamed again.

Lyra and Anna immediately rushed to one side of the kitchen, pretending like thy were doing something.

Two other maids walked past them, giggling and looking at Lyra as they walked by.

“What are you laughing at?” Anna said angrily, “don’t you have work to do?” Anna added as she made a fist.

“Give it a rest” Lyra said holding Ann’s arm, she was used to receiving this kind of attitude from the other maids.

Anna calmed down, she always hated it anytime the other maids bullied Anna.

“What do you think the announcement is going to be?” She said trying to change the topic to make Lyra feel better.

“What else could it be?” Lyra answered her “They probably have a child coming” Lyra added focusing on the plates she was washing.

The last time the alpha announced that an heir was on the way, Eira lost the baby some weeks after.

“Your birthday is coming soon” Anna said excitedly “you’d get your wolf and a mate” she says

“What if he doesn’t want me? What if he rejects me? Who would want an omega as mate” Lyra asks in quick succession.

“He would” Anna reassures her. “Hopefully it’s Troy” Anna said giggling. Lyra gave her a nasty stare, she didn’t say anything.

She had always loved Troy ever since he joined their pack. But after her mother and father died he became hostile towards her for reasons unknown to her.

Every one gathered for breakfast, ears itching for the announcement the alpha and his luna had to make.

During the breakfast, Lyra’s eyes met with Troy’s, she looked away almost immediately. She felt uneasy, but didn’t know why.

She tried to excuse herself before Troy and Eira made their announcement, “don’t be silly Lyra” Eira her former best friend said as she exchanged glances with Lyra. “It’s best that you’re here for the announcement” Eira added faking a smile.

Suddenly, Troy clicked his glass with his spoon to get the attention of every one gathered. He announced that he and his luna, Eira were expecting an heir. Eira was pregnant.

Lyra wished that the ground would open up and swallow her. She expected this to happen, but she couldn’t explain why she was feeling this way. Her eyes met with Eira’s. Eira was staring at her with a wicked smile.

Lyra left the room, she walked very fast as she headed towards her room, tears were beginning to roll down her cheeks. She was crying again. She couldn’t bear all of it anymore.

“I’ve had enough of this stupid place” Lyra thought to herself. She was tired of the way she was treated by the other members of the pack, the announcement Troy and Eira made was just the cherry on top.

Lyra planned to runaway from the pack. She wasn’t going to inform anyone of her plans, not even Anna. “But how was she going to do it?” she thought to herself.

Night came. Lyra was lying on her bed as usual. She hasn’t left her room since she came in after the announcement hours ago, she hasn’t seen or spoken to anyone either. Lyra was getting hungry so she decided to go to the kitchen to get herself something to eat.

Before leaving her room, Lyra opened her door slightly and peeped out looking left and right. She wanted to make sure there was no one left outside. She wasn’t in the mood to interact with another person.

Lyra got to the kitchen, luckily without seeing anyone. She started taking all the food and water she needed hastily, she would go to her room to eat. The food wasn’t hot but Lyra didn’t care, she would eat it anyways.

On her way to her room, in the hallway, a strong and pleasant scent tickled Lyra’s nostrils. She saw a male figure standing in from of her room door, she couldn’t see clearly as the hallway was dark at the time. “Who’s there?” she called out but didn’t get any reply.

“Mate” the figure growled in anger and disgust, stepping out of the shadows. “Mate” he growled again, this time in a louder and angrier tone.

“Oh no……please no” Lyra exclaimed silently with her voice breaking when she saw who was behind the voice.

Lyra unconsciously dropped the food and water she was carrying.

He grabbed her by the neck, pressing her against the wall, not caring if he hurts her or not.

“What did you do?” he growled harshly.

“What. Did. You. Do?” he asks again tightening his grip on Lyra’s neck.
