Chapter 2

" Hi darling,here is where you will be staying" she said pointing at the house . I looked at the house she pointed, I walked into the hut and watched as she left me , one would thing I am leaving outside their house because the slave house is like a donkey stroll to theirs. The hut was so creepy and dark thankfully, there was no rodent but insects. I sat on the ground as tears roll down my eyes. I cried bitterly for the death of my parents. After few min of crying, I heard foot step of someone walking to my direction. I use me hands✋ to glide my legs and my lap to hide my face. The more I heard the footsteps, the more I get pretrified. I wondered what punishment I would face now. Immediately, light shined in the room , what I never thought, I didn't know the slave house has a light switch,I slowly raised my head to see the person standing in front of me, to my surprise , it was their son." Hi, my name is Theo , what's yours" he asked which I gave no response to. But he didn't stop, he walked further to where I was sitted an sat beside me, but I shift far away from him , immediately he said."hi, am not as mean as my family,am different ,I just want us to be friends" he said shifting close to me .he continued"am not mean , I want to be your friend"I got something for you"he put his hand in his pocket and brought out a wrist watch ,"here ,have it , it's my gift from me to you"he said giving me the watch. "I don't want it , take it back" I referred it ." Well, sorry I can't take it back"he said . He stood up dropped it on the small size bed and turned to me ."I mean no harm, just want to be your friend, bye' waving his hand to me and left. I looked at the wrist watch on the bed and my necklace and cried myself to sleep.

I woke up as a result of the morning sun trying to take possession of my face, realizing I slept on the floor, I dusted my dirty cloth and sat on the wooden bed . Immediately, Theo walked in . Apparently,I wish this hut had a door , what if I was naked and someone barge in I said to myself.

" You are aware already" he said while walking to my direction. " I didn't get to know your name " he asked already seated beside me ."what do you want " I asked not staring at him." I want to be your friend ,please" he asked politely. "Just say what brought you here and leave " I said also not staring at him , but I am sure he felt the anger form my tone .

"Ok, fine I will leave , by the way , I came here to tell you my parents request your present " he said and left . I tooked a deep breathe ,before I left to the mansion which felt like 100miles away, I still can't believe I am in their apartment I wondered how much they bought this land .

By that time, I was already inside the mansion ,"hey urchin come over here " I immediately heard their mother mother's voice which sounded so mean, I walked to their direction which was the dinning table." Today you are resuming your suites in this house, fit for now your duties are in the kitchen and the sitting room. The longer your stay in this house, the more your duties increase, I want you to go to the kitchen and tidy it up now" she said slamming the table after her last statement. I immediately hurried to the kitchen.

"Good morning ma," I greeted the old chief who look like in her 30's.

"O my child, how are you and what are you doing here " she said as the place the pot on the gas cooker and walked to my direction, hugging me.she seems nice and I hugged he too."am fine ma , Theo's mother told me to resume my duties in this house as a cleaner in the kitchen and sitting room" I said sadly." O my child, I know that would be much for you , but I promise to support you in the way I can't she said pulling me for a hug ." You seems nice unlike everybody here except from Theo ,can I please call you mummy"I said looking at her face which shows no emotions. I watched as tears trickled down her eyes ." Sure you can call me mummy, I never imagined I would have a daughter , for this I would help you clean the kitchen, you just stay here"she said bring a stool for me to sit "now sit here". I looked at her and smiled, taking my seat , I watched her while she finish cooking and cleaned the kitchen" that is exactly how my mother treat me ."my love , have you take your bath" she asked looking at me ."no mum, I came here immediately I got the message from Theo" I looked at her , noticing are constant smiles anytime I call her mum. " Ok, I will be going to serve breakfast to Theo and his family, just stay here and do the things you can do , ok" I nod at her while she left , I immediately started washing the dishes.

"Oh , where is Mrs Janet"I turned back to see Theo holding a table water.

"Who is Mrs Janet"u asked he walked towards me ." The chief " he replied" oh , mummy went to serve breakfast" I replied while washing the dishes." Mummy?, Is Mrs Janet your mother", he asked while I continue what I was doing , but i was sure he was confused of my outsent , I turned to him" well, she is not my biological mum but she is my mum" I replied, and continued doing what I was doing ." Ok, can I help you with the dishes" he said and immediately dug his hands inside the soapy water without paying for my approval." Hey, get your hands off there " I said trying to remove his hand but all went fultive."" Theo, this is my duty given to me by your mother ,and as you can see I am doing really good at it " I said showing him a prove of the sparkling plate I just washed. " Yeah , those hands could really serve as a good washing machine" he said pointing his soapy hands to mine. I dug my hands inside the soapy water and splashing it on him,"silly" I hissed . He immediately dunduct the same action I did. " That is for splashing water on me " he said laughing at my soapy face." Theo leave here now" I said pushing him away. "Ok I would leave if you agree to be my friend" he said ."ok Theo we are now friends can you go now" I said. Immediately Mrs Janet walked into the kitchen.

"Mummy" we said before staring at each other in a confused state, Mrs Janet laughed at our reactions. Immediately Theo broke the silence " mummy, you didn't tell me you've got yourself a girl child" he said staring at me .

"Theo, you mother is having her breakfast at the dinning , don't get yourself confused". I immediately interrupted him."it's ok. My love you didn't tell me your name" she asked me.

"Oh my bad, my name is Dorathy " I said with a smile on my face." Oh sweetie, you got a beautiful name which suite you" she complimented me." Thank you mummy" I said.

" Mummy ,I am hungry ,let ear already" Theo said rubbing his stomach with a cute puppy face."No,No I can't eat now , I have to take my bath first. I will come back later for the food " u said ready to leave.".

"Or, I will bring your food to your hut, u know Your hut is really far from here" Theo said pointing my nose.

"Ok, Dora you can go, I will send Theo to bring your food once he is done" mummy said .

"Hurry now, leave my kitchen " Theo said while pushing me out , while Mrs Janet stood there laughing.
