Chapter 18The presence Jules had followed into the next cabin was gone. At least he couldn’t detect it any longer. The cabin air was dry, clean, and lacked the intense cold he’d felt when his cabin door opened. MAR-A’s messages were tagged with the boredom signifier. “Nothing there now.” “No,” Jules agreed. He cast a final look around the cabin and then stepped back out into the corridor. A tall shape swathed in dark robes towered over him as the door slid closed. He looked up at MAR-A’s glittering lenses. “You wanted to see for yourself?” “I scared you,” MAR-A said. Jules sighed and turned to return to his cabin. MAR-A’s long legs easily kept pace.
