Chapter 4

1036 Words
Melissa’s POV “Where am I?” This was the first thing that came to my mind as soon as I opened my eyes. Looking around, I realized that I wasn’t at home as my surroundings were quiet strange. The ceiling of the place seemed to be woven from twigs and this had me baffled. Moving my line of sight from the ceiling, I came to realize that everything around me seemed to be made from the earth. As I took in my surroundings, I remembered all that had happened all the way to my capture and I felt my blood run cold. Searching myself, I came to realize that nothing had been done to my body and that relief had me pouring tears. As I cried away, someone entered the room and I flinched. “Don’t worry. I am not going to hurt you.” Said a deep alluring voice that has me turning towards the source. A beautiful man came into my line of sight as he was more gorgeous than any woman that I have ever seen. He had flowing locks of black hair and siren shaped eyes. His skin was a dark hue but that didn’t lessen his charm. Instead, it gave him a mysterious aura and I couldn’t help but feel attracted to it. “Who are you?” I asked as I was in awe of this person. “My name is Efren, king of the dark fae. But you can call me uncle.” He says and I feel my mind go blank. ‘Uncle!’ the word keeps on repeating itself in my mind and I can’t help but feel confused. * “Uncle? I am human! I don’t have an uncle who is a dark fae!” I said to the tall guy as I shifted around. My sides hurt a lot due to the beating that even sitting was painful. “Oh, forgive me for saying this all of a sudden. I was just happy to see my niece for the first time in a long while.” He says as a strange tinge of red creeps up his cheeks. ‘Is he embarrassed?’ I thought to myself as the guy, Efren, seemed to be at a loss. “Efren!” shouted someone from outside. “Efren!” came the same voice again. “Oh my petals! You haven’t seen me. I haven’t been here at all.” Efren said before disappearing. Just what was going on? Shortly after he disappeared, an angel entered the room, literally an angel. The lady had hair as white as snow and the most piercing blue eyes I ever saw. She had an immaculate body and her height was just as good. “Hello, excuse me…” she said and her voice was that of an angel. “Yes please…” I answered and I felt like I was in a cove of dangerously attractive people. “Was Efren here disturbing you?” she asked and Yeah, I told her the truth. “Of by disturbing you mean dropping a bomb of him being my uncle, then yes. He was here.” I answered and I felt the tears threaten to pour again. Why is my life so hard? “Oh sweetie. I am so sorry about Efren. He just got really excited when he heard that you were back in the area and you are his sister’s child so it’s to be expected.” She said as she enveloped me in a warm hug and the tears dropped despite my shock. Sister’s child? Back in the area? What the heck! Somehow, I managed to catch some sleep and I woke up with my eyes all swollen and I wasn’t alone. “She is awake!” yelled an aged voice that had me shooting my eyes wide open. I looked all around the room and I was shocked at what I saw. Faces that looked that of Efren all stared at you with anticipation. What were they anticipating though? Efren stood at the center of the faces and I felt like he was telling me to do something. ‘Say hello to the family.’ Somehow, his voice managed to reach the crevices of my mind that had me opening my eyes wide open and this made him chuckle a bit. “Hello.” I said timidly and this had them sighing. Why? “She sounds just like Bethany.” Says the aged voice and this has me staring at how I look somewhat like her. “I look just like you.” I said and this has all of them staring at the older fae. “That’s because I am your grandmother.” What!? * A lot has happened to me in the past few hours and I felt my whole life be turned upside down. First, I am not really fully human and my mother is a dark fae. Second, my mother’s family has been looking for me since forever. Now, here I am at a certain kind of party where my uncle, the dark fae king, Efren, is introducing me to the rest of the family. “That’s your uncle, my twin brother, Efra. And that is his wife and kids.” He seemed pretty excited and I can understand why but I honestly didn’t want to be involved in meeting new faces. Alina, his wife, seemed to notice this as she approached me with an apologetic smile. “Are you uncomfortable sweetheart?” she asked me and all I could was nod as she whisked me away to a quieter area. “Must be overwhelming for you.” She said and I couldn’t agree more. “It all just feels strange to me. One second I think that I am just a gifted human then the next I have powers and come from a powerful bloodline of faes. It’s a lot to process.” I answered as I looked to the sky. The stars were out and it was quiet bright even if it was well after dusk. “I am not supposed to tell you this right now but Duke Hamilton is not your father.” WHAT??!
