Andrea knew a new side of Hunter.
After their first adventure in the forest things between the two changed, they were more visceral, they talked all the time about their childhood memories, both understood that the other carried a great burden.
—What would you do if you had your mother with you— Andrea asked him at some point during the day, while they were cooking.
—Well, to begin with I'm not sure if we knew each other, my mother was a free spirit, she loved to travel and go out to know new cultures, I'm that spirit in the family, so I would have followed in her footsteps— the dreamy way she spoke made his heart beat, his eyes acquired a special shine —What would you do with your mother if she wasn't sick— he countered.
—Mom loved to walk in the park, it was her favorite activity when I finished my classes, she took all the time in the world to get home, so I guess I would like to play with her in the park again— The woman's cheeks warmed up —I know it sounds like something absurd, but it is a pleasure of life that I can't give myself anymore and I would love to do with her again.
—You're a good daughter— Hunter commented as he bumped her hip with his.
—You are too, you could have left town and denied your father, but you are still here— her words had an impact on the man, did she really love her father? She understands that as a family, they had to stick together in difficult situations, but did she love him? She kept the worst memories of that man with hard features.
But thinking about things the way Andrea did, it was probably true, she loved that bastard, even if he had made him suffer he was the alpha of quera because of his upbringing, the values he had taught her and the hard lessons of life, are what now allowed him to be where he is, even if he still held a grudge for the pain with which those lessons were given.
—I'm glad I stayed because otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to meet you and that would really be a sadness— he took her in his arms, they both served the lunch they had prepared in a pleasant tranquility, Andrea found herself peaceful next to this man, she found that the more time she spent with him her heart beat faster in a good way.
—You know you never talk about your father— Hunter asked between bites of food.
—It's because I never met him, my mother doesn't usually talk about him, as far as I'm concerned he could be a yakuza, a DEA agent or a poor street bum— he joked about the possibilities, although it was a very sensitive point in his life, the pain he had for that emptiness.
—If it was the yakuza, that would be great. The kind of culture they keep is uff, a pass— the werewolf realized how difficult it was for her to talk about the situation and he didn't want to compromise her to do something that would make her feel somehow bad.
—Do you like Yakuza?— she inwardly appreciated the change of subject.
—Are you kidding? the Japanese are amazing, I love all the movies that come from them, plus the honor they have is unlike anything we experience— the werewolf took a deep breath, —Haven't you heard the phrase "I have no enemies, they have me"? wise words have been spoken. there is a samurai way for change.
They both laughed and any sign of discomfort disappeared at that moment. It had been fun hanging out with him during the days they kept her away from the scandals, they would go out at off-peak times, order food for the house or Hunter would go shopping for it.
He showed her another side of town, the one that didn't depend on people. He taught her how to hunt, showed her some of the weapons and traps that could be used in the forest, she understood about the first time they met, the way he appreciated nature and the different path he had traveled, no doubt he was a man like no other.
For his part the werewolf, was solidifying his trust in the human, knowing the recesses of her soul, supporting her through this journey and wanting to give her much more of his part, the pack had been getting used to his presence in the forest, when his scent manifested, they would come closer to see the scene, the youngest of their alphas had found a mate.
The rumors ran too fast, soon the idea of the broken engagement was in the mouths of the werewolves, until it reached the patriarch of the family.
—Marrying?— exclaimed Harold Halland laughing, in his life he had never imagined that the little vermin he had for a son would fall so quickly, but it was evident that the human had caught him in her trap, along with his eldest son —How long do you think your little bubble of love will last?— asked the adventurer.
—Until it has to last— exclaimed Hunter as he finished rummaging through his clothes, he had taken advantage of the fact that Andrea was sound asleep, to come to the property for some shirts.
—You know that even if you live together, you won't prove anything, until she knows, does she know what you really are— There was the real question of the situation, was she capable of loving him even though a part of him was a beast.
—No, she doesn't know yet and it wouldn't make a difference— the little werewolf tried to defend himself.
—Wouldn't it make a difference?— there was a humorless laugh from the progenitor —she'll abandon you as soon as she finds out what we really are, and you're stupid enough to take her to our lake.
—Are you angry because of the clearing or because I don't follow your f*****g orders? What I do is of no importance to you.
—If you want to waste your time with a human it's the whole pack's problem, you could be making a lot of money with modeling campaigns or doing social networking activities like before, but you're there, like a dog following her around, waiting for her to give you some attention.
—I'm not a lapdog, she made my own decisions and now they include her, you can't judge me for that— the tone of voice of both men had been increasing as they were annoyed now their relationship was more tense.
—If you are going to stay with her, you have to make your own money and find a way to make it work for the herd, you have to find the balance point— was the first reasonable thing that came out of the old man's mouth, he even offered her the possibility of staying.
—You're a complete i***t, sometimes, but I appreciate the gesture you're making now— both men shared a long look, they loved each other, Andrea was right, but they were too proud to admit it.
