The wolves remained completely motionless, they were not used to be intimidated with death by someone who was not from their pack, there was no way to confirm that the words of the stranger were true, his aura did denote a great power, even his wolf form was superior to that of the average wolf, but they could not know if he was the heir of Harold Halland, besides they knew he had two sons, but they could not be sure which one was him.
—Calm down— the Beta ordered them. He was looking for the best way to get out of it without making a big fuss, as soon as he moved slightly the claw on his neck began to dig into his skin making him bleed, the grip didn't move for a moment, he doubted he was the kind of wolf that broke his promises, they would have to work hard to do something about him.
—Tell your men, you will come with me and if they resist, I will break your neck and proceed to take as many with me as possible— Hunter was pondering what he should do, but if he had no other measure he would have to do as he said, even if it made him feel very uncomfortable, he had never been in a fight to the death, his body was taking slow steps in the direction of the invisible border that was demarcated, as soon as they crossed that line any wolf that crossed would be considered an enemy and as soon as the pack knew it they would not hesitate to try to kill them.
—He is the father of a girl, her name is Mary— said one of the wolves, looking reproachful.
—I imagine she will be a lovely little girl, so don't make her have to kill her father.
The looks of despair they shared gave him a good idea of what this was all about, something big was happening, little memories about an enemy pack came to his mind, he had heard when he was growing up that a ruthless wolf led a family of scions capable of murdering anyone for some money or glory, he wondered if they belonged to that family, the Garroway.
When he set foot on their territory Hunter felt a little calmer. The werewolves finally let him pass, they began to walk in the direction of the Halland family home, the wolves of the pack sniffed out the enemy with great ease, they could see them almost a kilometer away, their scent was characteristic.
—Are you really Harold Halland's son?— the beta wanted to provoke him, probably if he made him angry he would loosen his grip on his neck, he could accept losing an arm or a leg for the cause, but he would be unable to get out of the situation if he lost his neck.
—You'll find out in a moment— the young werewolf commented mockingly. He could feel the werewolves of the pack very close, he would say they were half a kilometer away, watching them from the shadows of the trees or bushes.
—If you are lying, you will be torn apart by my men as soon as they can smell the blood of my corpse, because you think you are so smart boy, but my men are getting ready to come and rescue me, if you let me go, now I will let you go, you showed you had balls and I respect that boy, but I am older than you, so...stay away— the younger werewolf was feeling very happy, clearly he felt very threatened to be comparing the situations.
—Do you think they will come for you? Please, you are a beta, they will only do what the alpha orders them to do, your men are mostly omegas and my men are already among us— the way he moved, told me that he had not felt it, so he did not run very often among his pack, maybe it was true that they could.
—You're bluffing— the werewolf blurted out with some fear in his voice, I could tell because his voice was cracking near the end.
—So?! THE NEW ARRIVAL WANTS TO MEET YOU— The shout of the alpha, was forceful for the werewolves of the Hallan pack, they ran out practically to be more threatening, almost all of them were naked because they had just turned back into human beings —Greet the newcomer.
—Welcome sir— they all answered in unison.
The beta was breathless. He was completely amazed at the way they respected a much younger werewolf, no doubt the boy had told the truth, he was Harold Halland's son, that little blowhard left a lot to be desired, now at least they knew the risk and his face.
—Go to the border and prepare for an attack— Hunter instructed them, they slowly moved away through the forest. The beta was somewhat frightened by the kind of speed they drove, they did not expect them to be so stealthy, in the Garroway family it was customary to move with force and ruthlessness, it was about demonstrating your power, instead he could observe that they conducted themselves in a completely different way, they seemed to have a very impressive synchrony, besides they were very subtle.
There was a sound in the house, the family leader was already aware that an enemy was in the house, the glass doors opened and let out a very disgruntled man of about fifty. He recognized him immediately, his pulse shot through his body, it was the enemy, the wolf to eliminate.
—WHY THE f**k DID YOU BRING HIM IN, HUNTER?— the man shouted angrily.
They had spent too much time making a plan to get to them and here was his son, showing up in the most inopportune way. He couldn't believe how expressionless and hard he could be, he seemed to be a time bomb about to explode, maybe it was about the girl, that human, she was attracting all his attention, without delay.
—Thanks for seeing me boss, I brought you a man of interest— Hunter put his hand on the Beta's shoulder, he sunk his claws so hard that it made the man's bones thunder, the muscles were shattering, he screamed very loud and fell to his knees, the smell of his blood was all over the place, the crimson drops began to fall on the ground —Speak, now— it was a not very subtle threat.
The beta, he tried to resist, he had received all kinds of threats in the past, he had even been tortured a little, even now that the pain was tremendous he knew he had to resist, he could do it, as much as he could, he just needed to concentrate on doing the right thing, he had to be faithful to the pack.
He lowered his gaze to the ground, wanting all this to begin quickly so that it would end with his death. In the end he would make it, he knew he could do it, it was what the beta kept repeating to himself. Harold Halland, he had seen guys like this before, he wouldn't break easily and it would be a waste of time trying to figure out the plan, but he still had to do it. Then he went further, he crouched down to look the werewolf in the eyes, the orange green characteristic of the Garroway family.
—What is your name?— the pack leader asked.
The beta merely spat in his face. He closed his fist and threw it against the man's ribs, causing four of them to break, even with the quick healing typical of his kind, the pain was very vivid, the feeling of discomfort, the air leaving the lungs, it was very difficult to move forward.
—Gregory, that's my name— Harold knew his kind, he gave him again a closed fist in the same area. It crushed hard the right lung, it was even very close to the heart.
Spit some blood against the floor, the man was more than trapped, he was more than willing to die.
—Mark, my name is Mark— he finished in a sob.
—Now if we're talking Beta, a man like you wouldn't move without the order of his alpha and don't give me bullshit about running away, I know the Garroway family, I grew up with George, and I was there when he killed his father— no one dared to breathe after Harold said that —why are you here?
—I don't know, I just had to come to the border and make ourselves very visible to attract their attention— that was the sickest thing I could say, Hunter thought.
