Listening to what was going on in that house, George Garroway, smiled.
He would finally have a chance to tear that son of a b***h Harold Halland apart with his whole family. After his father's death, George had been building up resentment inside, his family had joined him, they left the area and wandered for many years, they faced many packs, despite their accomplishments, his father's murder still haunted him.
—You are a murderer.
They told him as soon as he met them. Everyone knew his tragic story, they spoke with pity about his situation, they felt very sorry for the way things happened. They received many attacks, over the years, they had several losses, but those who remained loyal now claimed blood from him, they wanted to return to the land where they were once at their peak.
He wanted everything the herd had. He wanted to take everything they had and more. Harold Halland had not been a good leader from the moment he rose to power, with the death of his father years later from an aggressive cancer, the werewolf engaged in very questionable decisions regarding the family business, his level of alcoholism was on the rise, which weakened the pack.
George knew what that meant. Alcohol made werewolves aggressive and unstable, his disciplinary methods had cost the lives of some of his weaker subordinates, his methods of expansion cost the lives of many others, the only thing he cared about was his own gain.
Desperate as he now felt, he wanted it all to end.
He wanted to end a cycle that had to die a long time ago, they had been raised with enough barbarism, the new generations did not need to grow up under those parameters, the problem was Harold's offspring, Harley and Hunter, both were alphas, powerful. He could not face the family head on, but thanks to the recklessness of his sons, he could attack them with his greatest weakness, that girl.
He rang the doorbell of that house in the suburbs.
—Yes?— The chubby woman opened the door, feeling frightened to see a middle-aged man with small scars across his face and neck, with a terrifying look on his face.
—Who's Mom?— Chris came in to inspect, remaining completely silent.
—My name is George Garroway— a wolfish grin appeared on his face, this would be an interesting hunt, he would make all his enemies know his name before he disemboweled them.
On the other side of the city Hunter was holding the girl of his dreams in his arms, they had had a very long night, they had given her a couple of days of incapacity due to the events to calm down a little, the werewolf thought it would be a good idea to have her in bed all day, he had even prepared breakfast for her to be as comfortable as possible.
—Don't you have anything to do now?— Andrea asked.
Hunter shook his head.
—It must be nice, not having obligations with other people, I feel overwhelmed when I'm not working, because I think that something bad could be happening to my mother and I won't be able to afford it— the werewolf felt moved by her words.
—I heard they had given you a better contract— he replied, scaring her a little.
—How do you know that?
—I told you I had friends inside the company, besides no one can resist my smile," he proceeded to show her a charming smile, he was proud of the effect he could produce on women, he felt amazing that she could smile back at him.
—Yes? Maybe we should have met before— Andrea turned to find herself on the chest of the adorable werewolf, he was charming and went out of his way to take care of her from any pain.
—Yes, we should have— the way we shared that look was as if it reached into our souls, Hunter thought.
—You know now that I can take a moment for myself, I realize that I don't really know the city, I'm always running from one side to the other, to get some money and now, I realize that not only I don't know it but I've been really lonely until you came here— he understood that feeling, even if he was surrounded by the pack, he always felt that there was something he was missing, now that he had her in his arms, he realized that she was what he was waiting for.
—I can show it to you, whenever you want— then they were silent, she seemed to be too impressed.
—Would you be willing to do that?— Hunter let out a laugh, the woman had no idea what kind of power she had over him.
—I came running after you when I heard you were having a hard time, why do you think I wouldn't want to go out with you for a while to see the town where I grew up? — He was certainly a very special man, one that made her heart pound, she felt very nostalgic thinking about all the times she felt alone, and now she had many people around her.
—Well, then let's do it together— it was something very special that she wanted to keep at all costs.
—Of course, stand up and get ready— Andrea urged him, —now I want us to go together to do something, go for a jog or go to the movies, I want us not to stay all the time in bed, I need some air, I don't want to lock myself in these four walls— he gave a long breath, —and since you feel proud to be with me, there won't be a problem.
—Proud?— he let out a laugh —honey, I love you so much I would do anything you asked me to, but I'm not going to pressure you, to do something you're not comfortable with, after all you're going through a lot right now.
He was one man in a million.
