Hunter took a flight to return to the city as soon as possible, he completely missed the scandal, until he got off the plane, the calls on his cell phone did not stop ringing, raining messages about members of the herd who wanted to warn him about what happened in the company. He felt that they were making a big fuss simply because of the dismissal of a problematic employee.
—Yes?— replied the boy, without looking at the name tag.
—Where have you been? The city is in chaos today— Hunter then had a feeling.
—Is it about Andrea? Did something happen to her?
—Happen to her?! Your father basically freaked out over the girl- as he boarded the car, the son of the main family felt his world turn upside down— they all did, they got the authorities involved, now there's a whole investigation going on, which caused operations to shut down for the day today, it's multi-million dollar losses in the production of auto parts.
—Wait, back up and pause— the young wolf took a breath, to understand what his best friend and advisor was trying to tell him —How dad is involved with Andrea?
—It was all because of the email Harley sent about Chris J. Anderson.
—What mail?— he ran a hand over his head, feeling regretful about agreeing to do the photo shoot out of town.
—MAN, YOU MISSED THE WORLD TODAY!— Harley sent a mail to every company in the city announcing that they had fired that bastard, the letter said that the guy had abuse problems with a female employee and that he also had a violent background?
—Abuse? What are you talking about?
—Let me finish, man! Your father was informed of the statement, he was more than furious that something so embarrassing had happened in his family, so he went to the company to fix things on his own, you know what that means.
—To fire people— cheerful inside Hunter smiled. His father did not allow injustice against women, whose men he found out had any such behavior, he would make them pay with death. He would enjoy seeing the punishment the pack leader would give him for attacking another werewolf's life mate.
—Don't be an i***t, it's about what happened with the girl, how he almost hit her in the presence of your older brother, that almost made the old man go himself to break her face— there was silence on the side of the line.
—Who almost got hit?— The wolf inside was extremely upset, because his instincts told him that it was her ex-boyfriend, the son of a b***h who went to her house yesterday to complain to her, surely, he saw her alone in the company and thought she would be an easier prey.
—Andrea Smith—As soon as that name floated through the call, his instincts urged him to look for that abusive son of a b***h to kill him, his teeth gnashed with rage, he exerted so much pressure that his teeth protested the force, he felt they were about to break.
He hung up the call, went to the driver's side.
—He tried not to get involved in his brother's business, nor the technical side of the pack, but at this moment he didn't give a s**t about appearances, everything in his body told him he had to protect the girl, he was the one who failed to leave the city.
He checked through his calls or messages to find one from Andrea, but to his surprise, there were none. He remembered then that he had a new number, she probably didn't know him, it was absurd to think that he would seek her help without even knowing how.
The facades of the buildings were nothing more than blurred spots on his path, it didn't take more than a couple of minutes before he was in front of the glass doors, it wasn't even dark yet, his girl was probably in the building.
As soon as he passed through the glass doors the women seemed to go crazy to see him, they started gossiping about how the youngest of the family had entered the building, there was no denying the gallantry he could have, normally he would flirt with her, trying to avoid the responsibility of seeing his father or brother, but now he wanted to go straight to the top floor.
Harley prepared to tackle the beast. As soon as he heard he was on the premises, he was aware of the level of anger he might harbor, as well as the possible consequences, he stood in front of the elevator fearing what might happen if he did not.
—Brother!— he exclaimed in a cheerful tone. The younger wolf exterminated him with his eyes, he hated that kind of hypocritical behavior, he surely thought he would act like an i***t, he was trying to treat him like a child, he pushed him past his empty pretensions.
—Don't even try, I gave you one assignment and you blew it— he pointed his finger at him extremely annoyed, Harley's expression turned grim —You couldn't at least try to take care of her.
—Nothing happened to her, brother.
—Yeah? How do you know?
—Because I was there!— exclaimed the CEO of the company, his face had turned into a red mask with anger— She was never at risk of being hit— he whispered the last part, their argument had caused the employees to pay too much attention to both of them.
—And then why did they tell me otherwise? Do you think I'm stupid? —Hunter wanted to trace the son of a b***h's scent to make him pay for his audacity with his own hands.
Harley put both hands on his shoulders and stared at his younger brother.
—I'll explain it to you in the office— his tone offered no reply, and with no other choice the young wolf followed him. Once inside, he could feel the trail Andrea had left, because of her strong scent, he sensed that she spent too much time in that place and he didn't like the idea.
—Now start talking— there was an implicit threat in those words.
—He raised his hand against her, yes, he did. But he couldn't do anything else because I intervened immediately, I wasn't going to let him hurt her, or any employee, I tried to talk to him to explain the reasons for his behavior and he explained to me that he saw her with you the night before, he feels he was being made fun of all the time— guilt flooded the younger wolf's body.
