Harley Hallan felt his shoulders tense with stress. He had been on the phone since early morning trying to close business deals, it had been two days since the full moon and the herd was still talking about what happened with Hunter. He hated the rumors, he didn't know how he could deal with the situation now that his brother had practically stepped in front of the train tracks, his father would not be merciful to anyone.
She closed her eyes, leaning her head back in her chair.
The scent of strawberries reached her nose, she knew Adally had entered the room. They had been working hand in hand for a few months, everything inside him told him that she was perfect, she had delicate manners, sweet gestures and was efficient in her work, even though she was a human. The wolf inside him was telling him that she would make a perfect moon, that made Harley want to growl to pull her closer to him and make her his.
She leaned over to grab the papers he had on his desk.
Before she could straighten up, following her instinct, Harley grabbed her by her wrist. Adally lost control of her body from the unexpected movement, leaning on her boss's thigh so she wouldn't end up on him. That intimate gesture made her blush, from the sinful thoughts that came to her mind, the memories of the night with Hunter were still somewhat clouded in her head, but her body reacted to the stimuli, as if something primal in her body had awakened.
The scent of her arousal came loud and clear to the next leader of the pack. He opened his eyes, seeing the flushed color of her cheeks, he let his instincts blind him, he closed the distance between them, placing his lips on hers. Her lips felt warm to his touch, it took him a moment to make them open for him. As soon as he did, he placed his hand on her neck, letting his fingers tangle in her hair.
The woman let out a moan of pleasure, everything she ever imagined the man was capable of was true, his tongue played with hers, the scent of his cologne mingled with the scent of her skin giving a masculine smell that made her feel eager, as his hand clutched at her neck. She used her free hand to do the same to him, from the first day she wanted to know what it would feel like to run her hands through his hair, now she knew that silky hair felt like heaven, the strands were so soft they slipped through her fingers.
—Yeah, you keep doing that, we'll have to lock the door—Harley growled against her mouth.
There was something animal in his voice that made the hair on her arms stand up, even her eyes had changed to a more electric color, as if a spotlight had illuminated them. For a moment she thought she was looking at Hunter, a pang of guilt flooded her, but she thought she had been calling the number she left written on her bedside table, but the phone was always disconnected, so...I should say yes.
—All the employees are about to arrive— she replied without thinking.
Although the thought that they might be discovered in the office excited her, the man could smell desire mixed with fear, and all his instincts told him to jump on her, use his arm to sweep the desk, reach under her tight skirt, and grab her. The desire was so overwhelming in him that Adally felt some fear, he was looking at her so deeply as if he were taking the measurements of his prey to pounce on her.
Then in the midst of that bestial desire came that smell, that familiar smell, Hunter's smell. It was as if a bucket of cold water girded over him, then it was when he wanted to hit the first born of the family, how had he not noticed that before? Would she be the woman for whom his brother missed the ceremony? The desire was completely out of his system at that moment. He needed to clear his head, he thought.
—Miss Grey, please leave now— he ordered with a grunt.
Adally didn't understand why his sudden change of behavior, but she didn't want to argue because she was being scorned. She felt her mind was confused and thought about how difficult men were to understand. Everyone said women could be complicated, but men had very fickle desires, she thought to herself, heading towards her desk, she adjusted her blouse that had slipped a little out of the waistband of her skirt because of the passionate kiss.
—Hunter? — Harley whispered to himself.
Must be a f*****g joke, he thought. Both alpha brothers wanted the same woman. Although he'd had her for months to his delight, he never thought his little brother would be the one who could beat her. He didn't need a phone call to confirm it was her, the smell was unmistakable, but...he smiled inwardly.
Hunter was in the family dungeon undergoing a sentence, to atone for his unseemly behavior before the herd. Then he could just go after her. Harley stood up from his desk, pondering his decision. He had never been a womanizer and he had never been too interested in living with a woman in a loving plan, but right now, that human female had his full attention.
She's your f*****g Moon, his inner wolf told him.
His instincts had never failed him before, that woman could be his life partner, if he so chose. Through the window of her door she saw the tiny human she had been dating for a few months, sniffing around her. She could even smell through the door his regret. As she was about to speak to him, Harley came out of his office.
—Miss Grey—he announced in a firm voice.
She rolled her eyes to see the man in the gray Armani suit, looking at her with deep eyes. Adally thought he had too many mood swings for her taste, but inwardly she was thankful he interrupted her because she was sure her ex would come to talk to her, he had been ignoring all her calls. After that night she ran out. After that, the messages had skyrocketed, to the point of giving her some chills. The man definitely had mental problems.
