Harley waited until she reached his position. He glanced around the office, making it clear that he was in no mood to be challenged. The woman's scent brought out his baser instincts. He motioned for her to enter the main office. The ex-boyfriend in question seemed to be upset that he couldn't make his move. He thought internally that he could still get her back, although he was very embarrassed that he had run off, but of all the women he had dated, this one, she was on another level.
As soon as he closed the door, Harley regretted it because he was locking himself in with a ticking time bomb.
—What can I do for you, Mr. Halland? — the images of her kneeling working that jaw with his member inside made him salivate.
—We were evaluating the possibility of doing a general audit of the company in each of the branches- when he finished saying the first thing that came to his mind, he realized how stupid he sounded—Actually...I know we do it, but we want something more specialized. We want a general balance with a company external to us. I need you to compile the information of the companies that can perform that task and in history look for those legal antecedents that they may have.
Harley's face had her puzzled, his eyes told her that he wanted something more carnal, but his words were hard and strict. Andrea wished she knew what the man was thinking, but she was grateful to have her mind occupied with activities. Maybe at the end of the day she could talk about the raise.
—I will, and I will bring it to you as soon as possible— she was ready to leave. She took a step forward and found herself too close to the man's figure. She could feel how his whole body was tense. He emitted a spicy heat around her. After a second, without saying anything, he let her go.
She spent the whole afternoon immersed in the tasks of the day and looking for the information the man requested. Every time she could lift her head from the papers, new functions came for her to do. She reminded herself that she was doing this in order to have good medical insurance and the money would be excellent for her.
By the time Andrea finished, everything had long since gone dark, it was close to midnight. She turned off her computer, stretched her arms up and made her back thunder with a stretch, then noticed that there was a small light on in Harley's office. She bit her lip thinking about whether she should knock on his door to say goodbye or maybe she should give him everything she had asked for tomorrow.
Feeling an uncharacteristic bravery, she ventured to knock on the door, stepping through without waiting for an answer. Some Eminem music was playing loudly, there was a bottle of whiskey open on the table and his boss had a wild look like that morning. His hair was completely disheveled and the first three buttons of his long sleeve shirt were unbuttoned, he no longer had a tie.
He looked delicious.
But then he realized he seemed to have fallen into the lion's den.
—Sir? Are you all right? —Andrea had her body still leaning against the door frame, serving as a shield, she lifted the papers to show them to him -I finished with the mission I was given today- Harley made an amused smile.
The woman was very special, she had stayed so late to move forward with her work, no matter what time it was, he thought that level of commitment was now rare and he liked it, every time she did something, he realized she was wonderful.
—She didn't have to stay so late— the unexpected realization of his words made Andrea lower her shields a little, he was behaving very humanely.
—I know, but I started work and I lost track of time— The woman's cheeks were a little flushed, she walked until she reached her desk at the end of the room. She realized then that there were some unlit cigarettes in an ashtray. She tried to control her surprised expression.
—I thought I was alone—Harley waved his hands toward the room.
—Did I invade your space?
—Not at all, it's just that there's a lot of paperwork to do and someone has to do it— she knew what he was trying to tell her, the kind of responsibility that fell on his back for having so many people's jobs under his responsibility.
—I understand what you are saying, but you have to look for new vices.....
—If I knew you better I'd say you were worrying about me—Harley joked.
—I've always worried about you...you're my boss- the man's heart gave a little jump- and I know that having a big weight on your shoulders is not easy, that's why I don't want to see you falling into bad habits, you're a great man— a prick of relief ran through Harley's body, it was the second woman who was worried about his safety in that way.
—You mean because of his mother? — Andrea straightened her back, turning away from him.
—Did you read my file?— It would not be unusual for him to know his staff, but reading his file was another level of approach that I did not expect for a man who was so extremely busy.
—That's right- now it was his turn to have his cheeks red— I hope you understand that I had to make sure the kind of people I work with, besides employees talk, mostly— as soon as he said those words he regretted it, he didn't want her to think that he was guided by the comments of others.
—I understand why you know...and now that the subject is out in the open, I would like to know if I can ask you a question," the next leader of the pack settled back in his chair, waiting for her to ask what she wanted.
—Go ahead.
—I will not give a detour to the situation. You know I am a committed employee and I know I am under contract as an intern. I appreciate the opportunity you gave me, but as you well know, my mother is somewhat delicate and needs better medical attention, and...— the man intertwined the fingers of his hands looking at her fixedly, the strength of his gaze caused her to remain silent.
—Doesn't he have good medical insurance?
Andrea felt embarrassed, and bit her lip, not knowing how to explain.
—No, it's good, but my mother needs a nurse for her mobilization, and....
—Done—Harley stood up, closing the distance between them.
