Private questions were one of the hardest things for Andrea to deal with. They wanted to know intimate details about her relationship with Chris J. Anderson. The nurses seemed to be admirers of the man and wanted to understand why she was there.
—I...Mr. Harley sent me to the infirmary because of a strong emotion— she tried not to give more details, but the women couldn't get enough of her. They had heard rumors about Andrea being the beauty of the top floor, taking all the men like crazy and taking advantage of her charms to get what she needed.
—Oh yeah? Something big must have happened, he never does that, what happened Andrea?—The first woman was trying to be understood to see if the woman would fall into her trap, she wanted to know the details about the gossip, because for sure there would be a big commotion as soon as she got out of there.
—Andrea was not ready to talk about the fact that she was almost beaten, she had never been in a similar problem, her hands were still shaking with fear, the women knew something was going on, but they could not get any information out of her.
They took her blood pressure, heart rate and did a sugar test to see if any of those parameters were what had affected her, but it was not. The girl's mind was on getting out of there, but she remembered her mother. She couldn't leave the job now because she had excellent medical insurance which was very difficult to get in this country. Even now she had a nurse for her mother, she couldn't just leave her helpless, she didn't have enough savings to leave either, she bit her lip, nervous.
If he was a little calmer now, she did not imagine yesterday when he went to her house to look for her the kind of mood that man would have, she was internally grateful because last night she was not there to receive him, because his violent character could have exploded while she was alone. He could have even abused her, at those thoughts Andrea shuddered, she felt very nervous about how everything was going on.
She would have to find a way to get away from this man, a restraining order? Would she have what it took to file one? What if they thought she was overreacting? She had heard of cases like this, how the police sided with the perpetrator, plus it was a small town, and the man was obviously known in that environment. She could argue that she asked for it or that she wanted to provoke him, who would believe her?
—Andrea? — There were two knocks on the door and there was Harley. His expression said he was tired, but his relaxed attitude gave her the idea that he had managed to get rid of his troublesome ex. She was sorry to involve him in this kind of trouble, she felt ashamed that she had been found in such a vulnerable situation that he had had to step in to save her.
—Mr. Hallan— the women stood up straight and straightened their white uniforms.
—How is the patient doing?— the werewolf's tone of voice was restrained, because he knew he was already generating comments from the employees. In his experience, when he smelled so much lust in the women it was a bad sign for another, because that would mean that envy was easy to arouse.
—She has nothing serious, she just feels disturbed.
—Vital signs are normal.
—But she hasn't told us what happened to her, because she seems very upset, sir— the women wanted to satisfy their curiosity as soon as possible.
Harley considered his options. If he was not honest with them it would only generate more rumors, but it was not about his secret, but Andrea's, because being a victim in the eyes of others was hard, there would be comments behind her back, and although there would be people who would support her, there would be others who would blame her for what happened, they would say harsh things to her, he did not want her to go through that.
—What happened to him?—Andrea could see the internal debate in her boss and wanted to end it all.
—Mr. Chris J. Anderson is no longer on staff— those words came as a shock to the nurses, a cute little face was gone from the building, he used to bring them coffees and flirt with them when he could, it was a shame he was gone, —We are already working with the legal team to file assault charges, but we need your statement to do so— the words were said.
—Assault?
—What did he do?
Andrea nodded. She wanted to end with the man who had hurt her the most up, she regretted letting him into her life. She had been a naive woman who thought her affection would be able to change a man like him. No doubt now she would have to deal with the consequences of her girlish pretensions.
—If necessary— the werewolf in the room declared. He felt the need to comfort her, he could feel the sadness in her body, she needed someone to hold her.
—We found that she is in the company fraudulently— that raised the women's interest —I can't reveal the details to you because it is the lawyers who will use the information and it could lead to a trial, so please don't ask any more questions and I hope the conversation stays between. us— Harley knew the women would run to the phones as soon as he stepped a little outside the door.
—Of course, sir.
—We wouldn't be able to tell anyone anything.
—We're the next thing to a grave.
Andrea Smith found it very hard to believe that both women were able to keep something to themselves, but she preferred not to mention it. She was relieved that she no longer had to meet this man in the office, but surely that would only make him come after her at any other time, he would not be at all happy about being fired.
—Do you need to take the rest of the day off?— Harley's voice was very sweet, it got the woman's attention.
—I am fine— Andrea's voice cracked at the end. They knew she was lying.
—You don't have to play hard to get, any woman would need some time to breathe— she tried to be logical and not succumb to her impulses to comfort her.
—I can't go home, that's where he went to look for me at night—Although she whispered it, she knew they had all heard her. The women shared a look, finally it was as if the nurses understood that this was more than just gossip to share.
—You're right, the man has rape charges— the horror etched the nurses' faces —You'd better stay in the building, and not go home for a couple of days, while the police sort out the situation.
