The nerve of this man to pull me away right when I was planning my escape, I wasn't the one he should be messing with, the arrogant brute!
I tore away from his hold right before his subjects, glaring at him with disdain, he had nothing in his eyes other than rejection.
"Who gave you the right to put a finger on me?!" I yelled at him, he was a bit taken aback but didn't retort, letting me vent as I want.
"I have chosen you to dance with, I apologize if I was a little rough" He calmly apologise. "I should treat the most beautiful woman in this room with respect and I failed to"
I admit, I blushed. He wasn't trying so hard to please me and was polite about his intentions though I never believed his words about me being the most beautiful woman in this room.
"Would you do me the honor of having the first dance of the night with me?" He asked, he slightly looked over at his brother, who by the way didn't seem pleased but who was I to tell?
"I am in a hurry, my carriage is waiting for me" I subtly rejected him but he wasn't yielding. Without warning, he pulled me to the dance floor and ordered for music to be played.
He tightened his grip around my waist, pressing me closer to him the more I fought, I tried not to fight hard though because I notice with each move I make, the pieces of jewelry stolen jiggled from inside my pocket.
I will surely be given a death sentence if the king was the one to discover who I was.
Thank the Lord for the dance lessons I took when I was little, tonight it did come in handy though I was messing up a few steps, I was getting a hang of it and was doing all I can not be caught.
"So tell me, what relationship do you have with my brother?" Sebastian went forward to ask as we both swayed to the music being played.
"We just met" I replied. "He was asking about my kingdom before you took me away"
"You are a princess?" He asked more questionably, and he sounded surprised.
"Don't I look like one?" I asked back, definitely, I possess the kind of elegance any princess would.
"You do look exceptional unlike any other I had seen. Do I know your father?" The more questions he asked the more impatient I got, on the other hand, I was enjoying the praise I got in return.
"The late king does but I doubt if you would remember him" I lied confidently, one rule about lying, is never to stutter because when you do, they will doubt the credibility of the story, so you must be bold.
"I am sure I must have met him, what is the name of your kingdom?" He asked, his eyes fixated on me as we had a silent conversation.
" We stay off at the farther north. Not sure if you have heard Kingdom Nye" I replied, my feet were starting to get sore and Pythagoras kept warning me of our time spent. "Oh... I need to leave before it becomes too late"
I broke away right in the middle of the dance and tried to head for the door. Pythagoras dashed out of the ballroom. As I approached the first door leading to the outside, Sebastian ordered for the gates to be locked.
"What is going on? I need to leave" I spoke out, almost throwing a tantrum.
"My King, let the princess leave, she has a long way ahead of her." Caspian intervened but Sebastian wasn't budging, I knew dancing with him won't end well.
Sebastian's face was dark and grim, he didn't look like he was willing to listen to his brother and I know I would be doomed if I do not get out of there.
"Guards, search her" He commanded.
Fear hasn't dawned on me as it has now, there was no place for me to run to and the eyes that were in the room were condescending. The jewelry I had stolen we're still in my pockets and now am going to be caught.
"How dare you order your men to touch me! Have you no respect for my authority? You have made peasants look down on me" I said in my defense.
Sebastian groaned. "We both know that you are not a Princess you thief and impostor"
"How dare you accuse me of being a thief? Who are you to level such allegations against me?" I continuously stood my ground.
"Sebastian, I don't think it is right to humiliate our guest in public, she hasn't done anything wrong." Caspian appeal for my sake didn't change Sebastian but I admired the effort.
"Where are your manners brother? Have you no respect for the king? And how dare you refer to me by name! Don't you have an army to lead?" the tension between the two brothers increased as Sebastian was now facing Caspian for interfering.
"My sincerest apologies for my ignorance your highness, I fear that I might have crossed my boundaries and dishonored you" Caspian bowed his head.
I watch in disgust how this so-called king who has brought nothing but pain to the entirety of his kingdom treats his brother like this.
"Lock her up yourself, make sure to torture her until she speaks up" Sebastian ordered, before storming out of the ballroom, leaving all his guests and all who had traveled from afar to pay a visit.
Caspian didn't look at me twice as he followed the orders he was given.
My eyes were blindfolded and my hands tied tightly to the back, my mouth was also tied so I wouldn't protest. I pushed around as they led me into the unknown, by the time my eyes were open, I found myself in what seemed like a cave underneath the castle.
"take off the cloth from her mouth," Caspian said, I had my eyes on him the whole time, he wasn't like the nice person I saw earlier who wanted to keep my secret, he was totally cruel.
He held up a drawn picture of a person who was wanted for crimes, I knew I was the one in those paintings and so did everyone else.
Caspian sighed as he dropped it aside, "You don't work alone. It is impossible. Where are the others?"
"I don't know what you are talking about, I work alone" I replied, not refuting that I was indeed the person they were looking for, I wondered how the King himself figured it out.
"Keeping quiet about their whereabouts won't be the best option for you" he warned. I shook my head and replied, "I never said that it was"
"Alright, where are the lost..." Caspian didn't get to finish his sentence as Sebastian cut him unannounced.
"Has the impostor told us where the diamond is?" He asked, displacing Caspian on the seat he sat on.
"I was just about to ask her," Caspian said.
"Good, I am listening," Sebastian said smiling, I am sure he enjoyed me sitting here like this. "No need for that, I will handle everything here, you let me handle" Caspian tried to convince the king but he was too stubborn to listen.
"I never said that I need rest, while you were busy talking to her, I was the one who figured out who she was, masking herself as a princess. Even if she washed off the dirt on her, she will never be one" Sebastian blurted out, his last words had hurt me.
He spoke so ignorantly, such an i***t! A clown who moves like a puppet, he who is not even half the man his father was. I hate him and no amount of glaring will be able to tell what I will do to him if given a chance.
"Look at the way she is staring at me," Sebastian said, "As punishment let her sleep with the other prisoners, tomorrow we shall continue from where we stopped" he stood up and left, whispering something into the Caspian's ear, I could barely hear anything.
Immediately he left, Caspian signaled the guards behind me to tie me up and blindfold me. I was sort of dumped like I was nothing. I heard the twist and turns of the key before footsteps disappeared.
My eyes were still closed and didn't know what to do as my hands were also tied to the back.
For a while there was silence then I heard one of the guards trying to open the gates again. The darkness was scary as I tried not to think of what next could happen, maybe the king has ordered my execution.
Goodbye world, you were fun while you lasted, I shall forever haunt the king.
As I waited patiently for what will happen next, I felt a hand lightly brush my feet, the hand was frigid. Out of fright, I quickly jerked away, squirming.
"shh... don't make a sound" her voice so familiar, I nodded my head to prove my trust as she quickly took off my blindfold.
"Alex!" I said, covering my mouth after realizing I may have been too loud.
"Pythagoras said they took you away while you were trying to escape, apparently before he could meet us, we were already on our way. Something big has happened and you are no longer safe" She briefly explained everything, leaving out that single detail I wanted to hear.
