Milton Austin
AUSTIN CONQUEST.
Austin pov.
I stepped out of the vehicle, standing in front of me was Milton's estate gate.
I paid the taxi driver, “Thank you, sir.”
“You are welcome,” the taxi driver drove into the busy roads.
I exhaled, staring at the estate gate.
It's a long way down.
As I slowly strolled into the estate, I admired the surroundings It's been long since I have been to this house, ever since I got into college, I haven't visited home since then.
I opened the door.
The first person I saw was my old father. He smiled as he set his eyes on me. “Austin, my boy, how are you. You never visit.”
I walked towards him and embraced.
My name is Milton Austin, I'm the first son of Milton's household and heir to Milton's fortune.
My father, Mr. Milton, is a billionaire. Years ago, he relocated to South Africa and decided to settle down here.
My father was sick, news of his illness got to me. I was so concerned about his health that I left behind some important things unattended to.
I came home from overseas because I had just finished my studies in the UK.
“Austin, walk with me for a second,” he asked with a smile.
I accompanied him, and together we both strolled around the properties. Then we got to a place where he slowed down on his pace.
“Austin,” he called out to me.
I turned to him, “Sir.”
“You do know you are to succeed me,” he reminded me.
“Yes sir, I'm aware.” I looked away.
“So are you ready to pick up the martel and follow my footsteps,” he added.
I kept quiet to myself.
Then after a while, I sighed, “But father, I can't succeeded you. I can't follow your footsteps I rather build my own fortune.”
“Why build your own fortune? Why not inherit what I built for my family?” he curiously asked.
“Father, like I have said before, I have no interest in your fortune. I will build mine and make sure it succeeds even yours,” I uttered.
He smiled at me and placed his hand on my shoulder. “Then I'm fine with it, it's your life, not mine.”
That night, as I lay on my bed, I began to question my ideas.
It's fine that I want to build a legacy rather than to maintain someone else's legacy, but am I doing the right thing?
The following morning, a devastating news hit me. The news of my father's illness worsening woke me up that morning.
As I went to my father's room, I noticed that some medical officials were already attending to him.
“Dad,” I rushed to him.
He held my face. “Austin, I don't think I am going to make it,” he said in a weak tone.
“No, don't say that,” I replied, still trying to convince him that all is fine.
But like he said, he knew his time was near.
“Austin, regardless of what happens, I leave you with all the family fortune. Make sure you make our bloodline proud.” After saying those words, he drew his last breath.
I felt his hand falling off my face, I saw his eyes widen and his limps stiffen. The sound of the life support machine attached to him suddenly changed.
One of the medical officials tries calming me down by saying, “Son, don't cry, he's in a better place now.”
It's been days since my father's passing, we just observed his mourning. It has been hard ever since he died, and yet nobody came to check on me apart from my friends from the UK.
Martin pov.
I just heard that my father has died, yet I don't feel remorse for him.
My name is Milton Martin. I am the third child and son of Milton's household. Unlike my brother, who doesn't have interest in my father's wealth, I am entirely different from him.
I desire all that belongs to my father, since Austin has refused the family fortune, I will just have to claim it all.
Moments later, I arrived at my father's house.
Sitting in the living room was Austin, he looks more mature and older. “You came,” Austin said.
“Yes, I did. Were you expecting me to miss my father's funeral?” I replied.
“But you already did,” he says, looking at me.
I tried changing the topic by bringing up another conversation when Gabriel walked in.
Gabriel was the lastborn in our family, just like me, he also couldn't make it to our father's funeral.
Gabriel greets me and Austin, “How are you doing, brothers?” I smiled. “Fine. Long time no see Gabriel.”
Gabriel pulled myself and Austin together and hugged us both, “It's nice to be home once in a while.”
After we reunited, I met with Gabriel.
He sensed my presence. “Come closer, Martin.”
“So are you also here for what I'm here for?” I said, looking suspicious.
He giggled, “Then, if you know, why did you ask?”
I smirked, “Because I have a plan to claim all that is ours.”
“How will you do that? You know by right everything belongs to Austin. So what are your plans?” He was already asking me too much.
I sighed, “By killing him.”
Austin pov.
After all the visitors had left, Martin and Gabriel called for me. Minutes later, I arrived at the destination.
It was at the beach, a place familiar to all of us. We have been there before, when we were still little.
“Do you remember when Father used to bring us here during the holidays?” Martin walks in on me from behind.
I looked into the dark night skies and said, “Yes, it feels like yesterday.”
“It sure looks like that,” Martin adds.
“So what am I doing here exactly?” I asked again, but I felt something was off about this place.
Then everything became quiet.
I felt the cold sea breeze blowing through the air unto my skin.
“We brought you here to kill you,” Martin revealed.
Both my eyes widened in shock after hearing those words from him.
To kill me, for what reason? As I tried to run away, I ran into Gabriel.
He stood in front of me, his eyes closed, but his presence felt cold.
Gabriel looks down on me and says, “Martin, are you going to do it now or what.”
Martin pulls out a gun from his pocket and points it at me.
I moved backwards in fear, heading towards the seashore. I could feel the water brushing up against my legs.
I felt a cold shiver traveling down my spine as I looked Martin in the eyes.
“No hard feelings, but with you gone, we could have everything.” Martin didn't hesitate, he pulled the trigger.
I tried shielding myself from the bullet, but eventually I was hit, and the force sent me flying backwards into the sea.
Martin pov.
After I pulled the trigger, I couldn't find Austin's body, it was like the water carried him immediately.
Gabriel rushed in, “Where is he?”
I obstructed Gabriel as he wanted to move forward towards the water, “No, let him go. I shot him in the head there's no way on earth he is going to survive that.”
