The search for the person Drew had told me to look out for had come to an abrupt halt with Luke's health crisis. Feeling indebted for all he had done during that week, I had taken it upon myself to look out for the particular woman he had apparently come here looking for.
I was in the guest room, wondering whether I should just pack my bags and leave for home instead of staying beside Luke for another day. The thought of leaving was enticing but Luke's mother deciding to come over herself if word got to her about his illness, was far more terrifying.
I wasn't married to that i***t, but I was still tied to him as he hadn't signed the papers. With a sigh, I walked out from the guest room, ready to start another day of both taking care and torturing my former husband.
