AMAL The glasses are here and I look ridiculous wearing them. With the niqab on, half of the gold and black frame is on the black material of my niqab. I look horrible. My eyes were the only part of my body-minus the hands-that were uncovered and now I’ll have to wear these everywhere because pigs will start flying before I wear contacts. Huffing and puffing, I curse all the book reading that led me here. Why did I ever read? I will burn every book in the world just to get my eyesight back. Okay, maybe not my favourite one. But all the others, I will. The world is so clear. I can’t believe people see this way normally. For as long as I can remember, everything has been a blur.
