PROLOGUE
“So, what is his story?”
“Poor thing was in a car accident with his parents. His mother died. His father woke up a few hours ago and just found out.”
‘How sad. How old is he?”
Hope sighed and looked over to her friend. She gave her a small smile, “Five….and a half.”
Joy shook her head and her gold locks bounced around, “So young. You have it in for you this time Hope. I was feeling sad about my situation but this is a hard one.”
“I will take your teenager any day.”
Joy patted Hope on the back, “Good luck.”
“You too.” She looked at Joy then back at the small boy.
She looked at the heart monitor on the side. It beeped steadily as the zigzag line peaked and dropped. He was almost waking up, she knew it. The scars on his angelic face will heal, but that was not her job. She had to heal his heart. He was way too young to lose his mother; did he even understand the concept of death? Hope thought to herself. Either way, she just had to take it one step at a time. Just as always.
