Confusion

Did I hear him correctly?! He wants to take me out on a date? Is he even interested in men? Is it even possible that I like men?! I'm curious how I look in front of him right now. I must look dumb. I looked at him as he stifled a laugh. I then screamed at him. "Ugh! Don't tell me you were joking again?" He then shook his head, his face now surprised. "No, I wasn't joking." So he wasn't joking, and yet here he is, laughing and s**t. "So, why were you laughing then? Ugh, you must think I'm gullible, don't you?" He then ran his hand through his hair and sighed. "I wasn’t laughing and I only looked like that because your face was so adorable, you looked so surprised with my question," He then smiled at me. Okay then, that settles my concerns earlier so I did look stupid. “So was that a yes? Will you go on a date with me? You know, just a friendly date for friends," Oh, a friendly date. I thought he was going to ask me out. But wouldn't it be strange if he did ask me out on a date? He's already dead. I should really remind myself that. "But why do you want to go on a date? Shouldn't we start by taking care of your unfinished business first?" Even though I wanted to go on a friendly date with him, priorities first. "Have you already looked me up on Google?" Oh s**t, I haven't looked him up yet. I actually forgot. I stared at him, my eyes filled with annoyance. "You know, you could've just told me your life story right away to get this over with." I complained. He then smirked. "That's why I didn't tell you immediately. I don’t want it to end right away; I wanted to spend some time with you," he gave me a sly smile. He's a moron; doesn't he realize he only has a limited amount of time here on Earth? Damn. "Stupid, the clock is ticking, and you don't have much time left." He then closed his eyes running his hand through his hair. "It's true, but I just died like weeks ago, so I doubt that," he snorted. Wait?! He died a few weeks ago, right? Then it must be in the news. "What was your last name again, Devin? I'm going to look you up on Google right now." He then looked at me with a sad expression on his face. "It's Huxley, my full name is Devin Huxley." Huxley, Huxley, Huxley Is that a name I've heard before? Oh, it's the company where my father works! "You own the Huxley Company?!" I stared at him, my mouth agape. He then giggled. "Well, I used to be the sole heir to the company, but I guess not anymore." This must be a nightmare for him. For his life to end in this manner. Oh my goodness, I have so many questions. "I have a lot of questions. I wasn't expecting you to be this wealthy," He then raised his brow at me, wanting me to explain myself. I then sighed. "What I meant was that when I first saw you in the library, I thought you were elegant and all that, but now that I'm interacting with you, you seem really humble, and it doesn't hurt that your hair is dyed a pastel purple color, so it really looks like you're just a normal guy," I rambled on to him, and he just continued to smirk. "That's an interesting observation, cutie," True, he appeared to be a normal guy, not someone who had been spoon-fed his entire life and had a company waiting for him to take over someday. "Devin, you owe me a lot of answers. Please tell me who you are now," He then approached me, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "First, go on a date with me, and then I'll tell you my story," Damn, again with this date thing. Why did he have to be so stubborn? I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms at him. "No, you can tell me your story right now without going on a date; let's not waste time," He then giggled and winked at me. "Spending one day on a date with you is not a waste of time, sweetie. So please just say yes," I couldn't help but blush when he said that. I swear to God this guy is gonna kill me. "No, it cannot happen. That's not something I want to do," I said, smirking at him. He then gave me puppy eyes and tried to talk me out of it. "Would you please go on a date with me, cutie?" Ugh! Why, though, do we really have to? It's really not that necessary. "What makes you want it so badly?" He then exhaled a sigh. "I can ask the same for you, why don't you want to?" he smirked, crossing his arms. I didn’t wanna tell him that the real reason I didn't want to go on a date with him was because I didn't want to catch feelings. In any case, I know how this story ends. And, to be honest, I just wanted to help him as soon as possible. I still have a family to look after. I let out a huge sigh. "Personal reasons," He then gave me a knowing look and rolled his eyes. "You already know that having a pleasant date is helpful, and it also serves as a stress reliever. Reya is welcome to join us if you so want," He then smiled sweetly at me. "Rumi, just give it some thought! It could be exciting! I just want to have some fun for a while. Please?” He then fixed his gaze on me. Damn! How can I say no to that face? I want to say yes, but a part of me knows it's not a good idea. But he did promise to tell me his story. As he stared at me, I thought about it for a while. "Give me a moment to think about it." He snorted and rolled his eyes. "You said it yourself, we don't have much time, just say yes!" I knew he was correct, but I was also thinking about my own feelings at the time. Selfish, I know. But I’m scared of my feelings for him. "Could you please give me a day to think about it?" He then looked at me as if he was thinking about it. He then grumbled and sighed. "Fine!" I then smiled at him. I was so happy that I suddenly moved in for a hug forgetting he was a ghost. I passed through him and fell on my face. His mouth went agape shocked at what just happened. My face was red from the embarrassment. This is extremely embarrassing. I looked at him, and he tried to maintain a straight face. "I'm going to sleep now, Bye!" I jumped inside my bed and covered my face. Why the hell did I do that? Why did I try to get a hug? Did I just forget that he was a ghost? Damn it Rumi what were you thinking?! Even he looked embarrassed for you. I couldn't sleep properly that night, which was unfortunate because I have classes today, but luckily I don't have any work so I can try to catch some sleep later. I got out of bed and prepared for my classes. I entered the classroom and noticed Barb sitting in one of the chairs. I sat next to her. "Good day, barb," She then smiled at me. "Hi Ruru, how are you?" I wanted to tell her right then and there that I wasn't feeling good and that I was starting to have feelings for a ghost who kept bugging me to go on a date with him, but only as friends. f**k my life. I responded with a fake smile. "I'm fine, just living my boring life as usual," She then scoffed at me. "You sure you don't want to tell me anything?" I'm pretty sure barb can see right through my bullshit that's why she asked me that question. “I'm sure, barb," She then sighed after staring at me for a while. "Whatever you say, Ruru, just know that if you need anything, I'm here." That prompted me to nod and smile at her. Our chit chat was then over once our professor entered the room and began the class. I couldn't even hear what the professor was saying. My mind was elsewhere. I couldn't stop thinking about him. Should I just go for it and have a friendly date with him? My thoughts were interrupted, when the teacher called out my name. "Could you please answer my question, Mr. Walker?" Oh s**t, I didn't know what the question was because I wasn't paying attention. I then stood up with my face screaming “I don’t know the answer why the hell did you pick me!” I just stood there trying to guess the answer until finally I spoke, "I'm sorry sir, I don't know the answer." Embarrassed that I didn’t know the answer I just hung my head down. The professor then gave me a disappointed look. "All right, Mr. Walker, you may take a seat; please pay attention the next time." I nodded, and the professor called out another person's name to answer the question. This is gonna be a long day. The bell then rang loudly, signaling the end of class. Everyone stood up and began packing their belongings. Barb then suddenly touched my arm, a worried expression on her face. "Are you all right, Ruru? You seem to be out of it?" I then gave her a small smile and nodded. "Don't worry about me, I'm fine," I then went to the men's bathroom and washed my face at one of the sinks. When I looked up at the mirror, Devin was already leaning against one of the walls beside the stall behind me. I gasped and let out a small scream. "What exactly are you doing here?" I yelled in hushed tones. He shrugged and approached me. "I don't know, I didn't see you in your dreams last night, so I came here to see you," Oh, we didn't get to meet in my dreams last night because I didn't get enough sleep. "Oh, about that, I didn't get enough sleep last night, so yea," He then had a worried expression on his face. "Why? Is there something bothering you?" I didn't want to tell him he was the reason I couldn't sleep last night, so I lied. "No, I'm perfectly fine; I'm just tired," In hushed tones, I said. I can't afford to talk to him loudly; people might think I'm crazy if I do. I then took my bag and decided to ignore him. "Let's just talk about it later at home," I walked outside the bathroom and ran into someone. “s**t, I’m sorry,” I looked at the person, and he looked really familiar. Wait.. Is this? "Chase?!" He then smiled at me and hugged me tightly. "It's been a long time since we've seen each other, Rumi." I then gave him a big smile. Yea, It's been a long time since I’ve seen him. My childhood friend.
