The Accident

It's been three weeks since I started at SanFord University, and things are going well. I've made a friend there named Barb, who also happens to be a working student which I find interesting. Anyway we didn't have any class today because it was a weekend, and my father was also on vacation, so we all decided to go somewhere and just hang out as a family because it had been a long time since we had all gone out of the house together. "Rumi! Have you prepared everything that you need?” Mom shouted. "Yes ma, I'm ready," I said as I went downstairs. "Okay, make sure you didn't leave anything behind," she said. "All right, ma,” We were on our way to the car when I noticed that my father wasn't feeling well. "Are you okay, Dad?" I was becoming concerned because he appeared pale. "I'm fine, Rumi; don't worry about me," He smiled at me, but I could tell he was tired by the look on his face. "Are you sure, Dad?" He chuckled at me. "Don't worry, now go and look after your sister Reya," I nodded my head and went to Reya, I buckled her seatbelt, and dad finally began to drive us to the amusement park. “Let’s get this show on the road!” Dad shouted happily. When we arrived, the amusement park was so huge that I felt like a kid again. "Wow, it's been a long time since I was here." I pondered. "I know, you were just a kid at the time." Mom pretended to wipe her fake tears away with her hands. I gave her a sidelong glance. "Seriously, ma, stop it." Dad laughed at that. "Don't be surprised; your mother gets emotional about everything." She then gave him a scowl and he grimaced. I went towards him and patted his shoulder "Good luck with that," I smirked as I quickly left the two of them before they started bickering. Looking at this place I realized it really has been a long time since we were here. I remember the days when it was just the three of us. Mom, Dad, and I. I then giggled at the hilarious memories. "Time really does fly by fast," I mumbled. After reminiscing the old memories I went towards Reya and she began to jump up and down in delight. I looked at Reya and started signing. "Where do you want to go first, little sis?" I asked, her face beaming. "I want to go on the rides!! Can we go now?" I chuckled at that and took her to one of the rides. I took her to the carousel and watched her while she rode it. Mom took pictures of it. It was so cute. "Do you remember when we used to have dates here, love?" Mom mused. "I mean, how could I not? Remember how you spilled a drink on me here before?" Dad bursted out laughing, and I swear her face started to be red as a tomato. "Why did I marry you in the first place? Sometimes I wonder," She sighed and rolled her eyes. "Good question, my love," he said cheesily. "But I know it was because of my good looks and charms," He then winked at her and she suddenly acted as if she was about to vomit. "No, my best guess is that you used black magic on me," Dad burst into laughter and then gave her a tight hug. I came in between them "Okay that's enough love birds! You guys are too sweet. It's giving me diabetes," I joked. They both laughed at that. We went for a walk and took a lot of pictures. Well at least, my mother did. She enjoys taking pictures because she believes that "A picture keeps a moment from running away." I guess that makes sense. This day has been the best so far, we really had a great time as a family. We had so much fun that I actually ended up persuading my mother to ride the "Death's Ride" and it was super hilarious. My father was left with Reya, while my mother and I rode the roller coaster. Reya also began crying because she wanted to ride the roller coaster but sadly she couldn’t because of the age and height restrictions. The ride finally came to an end, and we returned to Dad and Reya. "Malena darling, are you okay?" dad asked, while stifling a laugh. “What do you mean, am I okay?!” We both laughed at that. “I’m far from okay, I can’t believe you actually managed to let me get on that ride,” she glared at me. I was dying from laughter. “I’m sorry ma, I just had too!” I can’t let this opportunity slide to be honest. "I don't care if you're already 20, I'm seriously thinking about grounding you," mom exclaimed. I know what you're thinking. A 20 year old guy still living with his parents? Yes, I am already 20 years old and still live with my parents; sue me. After our exciting day at the amusement park, we ate dinner at a family restaurant. "I swear I'm never riding that thing again!" She kept talking about the ride, while dad just laughed at the pictures he took of her while she was on the roller coaster. She finally realized what he was laughing about after a while. “You Jerk, give me that!” She attempted to take her camera from him, but he dodged her. It was a hilarious scene. Even Reya began to laugh. At times like this I can't help but feel really lucky. I really love my family. "Jason Walker, If you don't delete those, I swear to God I'll be driving home with the kids and leave you here alone tonight." she bellowed at him. He then stopped laughing and handed her the camera. He pinched her cheeks after she stuck out her tongue at him. My parents are such nerds, I swear. While my parents continued to bicker like children, Reya tugged on my shirt and signed to me, "I want to ride the roller coaster," with puppy eyes. "You will someday when you're older, okay?" I replied. She nodded and smiled. After that eventful dinner, we all got into the car, and Dad began driving home. We put on some music and began singing and clapping our hands together,"You shoot me down but I won't fall, I am titanium!" We all sang and laughed together. It was an unforgettable day for me, really it was, because just minutes before all that fun, a truck suddenly slammed into the side of our car, and everything went black.
