Bucket list

1054 Words
We were now on our way to see the dolphin show.  It was amusing because I almost bought three tickets, completely forgetting the fact that no one could see Devin. It was incredibly stupid. Anyway, we were finally seated and waiting for the show to begin. I can't help but feel ecstatic.  I'm also looking forward to telling Devin about my bucket list idea. I'm hoping he appreciates it. "Everyone, the show is about to start, I hope you guys have extra clothes because this show is about to get splashy!" said the announcer.  That elicited a round of applause from the audience. When I looked over at Reya, who was sitting beside me, she was beaming and clapping her hands with delight, and I couldn't help but smile. "You bet I've gotten more women wet than this show," Devin whispered quietly to me.  I couldn't help but smirk and roll my eyes at that remark. "Yeah, I bet you've made them pee themselves from laughing at your stupid self," I said. "Huh, I may be a total loner, but don't deny I'm a hottie," he smirked, his voice lower than usual.  "Yea, yea whatever, let's just watch the show," I mumbled, trying to hide my embarrassment at not wanting to admit he's a hottie. I'm not in the mood to stroke his ego. The show then began, and it was spectacular, with the dolphins performing incredible tricks. It was simply a blast.  So now we were just walking around while I snapped pictures of Reya with the stunning views of the aquarium. We finally found a seat after a long day of walking. Reya sat beside me, slowly falling asleep and resting her head on my lap. "Aww, the cutie got tired," I murmured as I looked down at the sleeping angel on my lap. "Did you have a good time, Rumi?" Devin had a warm smile on his face as I looked at him. I eagerly nodded my head. "Yes, it feels like years since I've gone out and had fun after what happened to my family," I cleared my throat. "Thank you, Devin," He then smiled at me and we just sat there for a while. I feel blessed yet cursed at the same time. I'm glad I got to know Devin and that he's here, but I can't help but think about how cruel it is. What a cruel coincidence that I met him under these circumstances. If he was still alive? Would he still have gone on a date with me? Would we have remained friends? My thoughts were then interrupted. "Um, Rumi, I think we should head home now, I had a great day today but you should wake Reya up and let her rest once we get home," I nodded my head and gently stirred Reya awake. We then got a cab and returned home. We've finally arrived! What a day today was.  I tucked Reya into bed and let her sleep for the rest of the afternoon. Then I went to my own room and collapsed in my bed. "Tired much?" the smirking ghost asked of the obviously tired human. "Yeah, now shut up and let me take a nap," I grumbled as I fell asleep slowly.  Devin chuckled and walked away, "Ok, okay, I'll let you rest in peace,"  Of course, I found myself back inside the library again! and here he is, the most endearing ghost, "Hi sweetie, I had a great date with you today," he said as he wrapped his arm around my waist. I rolled my eyes and hid a small smile at that.  "Yeah, me too," I said. I believe this is an appropriate time to tell him of the bucket list concept. And so that I can finally help him in crossing over. "Um Devin, I wanted to tell you something," I gulped, clearing my throat. He looked at me, curious as to what I had to say. "Sure, what is it? I'm all ears," I then exhaled deeply.  "So I thought about this because you said you never got to do everything you wanted in life, and I thought maybe that's why you can't cross over," I said. He then furrowed his brow "Okay? Just  get to the point," He said. I avoided his gaze. "I wanted to make a bucket list," His expression became perplexed at this point, "Wait? Bucket list? What exactly do you mean?"  "Bucket list, like we list down the things you wanted to do when you were alive and will do them now," I ran my hand through my hair. For a moment, his face appeared stoic, but then he burst out laughing, and I looked at him, perplexed as to why he was laughing. "What's so funny?" I stared at him. "Baby, I'm a ghost; how could I possibly do what living people can do?" I then gave him a huge sigh. "Isn't it true that nothing is impossible? We'll make it work, and in the meantime, we'll do fun bucket list things that only a ghost can do!" I was feeling very optimistic.  Because I genuinely wanted to help him. I looked at his face, which was filled with awe. He probably wasn't expecting this from me. "You know what? You're right! I'll make the most of my time left here and actually do something that I love and cherish when I move into the afterlife," With that, he gave me a big smile and a hug.  I was taken aback at first, but I gradually hugged him back. "Thank you, Rumi, for making me feel like I'm alive," he whispered. I couldn't help but blush when I heard that. He has no idea how important that was to me.  To be able to hear that I was able to help someone like him makes me happy. I wish we had been friends when he was alive so we could have done some of the things he loved and he wouldn't be in this situation now.  You know now that I think about it. What are his family's feelings about his death? Were they depressed? Did they give a damn? I'd like to learn more about him and his family. As a matter of fact, I'll initiate my own secret investigation.
