"I believe this is it; I believe this is the place," I said, as I stood there staring at the horrifyingly creepy place. This house appears to be old and haunted.
It's similar to a witch's lair. I came across this paranormal expert while scrolling through the internet and she seemed pretty legit, so I decided to go here unannounced with Devin to look for help.
Hannah is babysitting Reya, so she is safe. "I'm a ghost, and even I'm terrified," He laughed. It's even bizarre that I'm scared despite the fact that I'm already being followed by a ghost.
I then knocked on the door and waited for an answer. We both looked at each other, unsure of what was going to happen next.
The door creaked open, revealing an African-American woman wearing an unusual headpiece and dressed like what fortune tellers usually look like in movies.
She then stared at us for a while, then all of a sudden she was whispering something to herself. It was as if she were possessed.
Honestly, I wanted to run right now, but it's as if I'm glued to my spot. She then came to a halt, looked at us with wide eyes, and pointed at me.
"You! You have no right to come to my house. I'm going to curse you and your family." She screamed.
I let out a scream and ran away from my spot, when she suddenly laughed and grabbed my backpack putting me to a stop.
"Relax! I was only joking! Hello,I’m Madame Rosa, how can I assist you today?" She then gave me a friendly smile. I just stared at her, wide-eyed, still stunned by what had happened.
"Are you sure you're not going to curse me?" She burst out laughing, slapping her thighs. "No! Why? Do you think I'm a witch, young man?" I gulped and laughed nervously at her.
This is crazy. But I really need her assistance. She then invited me into her home. Oh well, here we go. "So, young man, what brings you here?" Devin remained by my side throughout the ordeal, which I suppose was a good thing because I didn't feel alone.
"I need your help," I stated. She smirked as she looked at me. "I believe there is a presence following you around, young man," That prompted a nod and a smile from me.
"Are you able to see him?" She then shook her head. "No, but I can feel when there's another presence in the room, and I can tell it's following you,"
I believe I have found the right person to help me. Even though she couldn't see Devin, she knew he was with me. I then cleared my throat and began to explain my situation to her. She then looked at me, and was listening to everything that I was saying.
"So there you have it, how will you be able to help me?" She then laughed at me. "With regard to your ability to see this ghost, I was wondering if you've ever been in a life-threatening situation before,"
She crossed her arms and looked at me. I then gave her a wide-eyed look. I didn't tell her about the car accident. I took a deep breath and nodded. "I was involved in a life-threatening accident with my family,"
Devin then looked at me with concern. I simply ignored his stare. "That explains a lot. What you're going through, dear, is something my grandmother used to go through,"
I looked at her with curiosity. So I wasn't the only one who had this experience? "My grandmother had a near-death experience, and as a result, she began to see spirits and ghosts.
So I believe your third eye was opened as a result of what happened to you," So that explains why Reya can see Devin as well, because we both had a near-death experience.
"How can I close my third eye? I want to live a normal life; I don't want to be able to see ghosts and spirits," I said. A sad smile appeared on her face.
"I'm sorry, young man, but closing one's third eye is difficult; even my grandma tried before, but she eventually accepted her newfound abilities,"
This is utterly unfair. Why is this happening to me? I have a lot on my mind and a lot to be concerned about.
Because of this, Reya is unable to live a normal life. I just feel like I'm running out of options. I looked down and tried to hold back my tears.
"Is there another way?" I whisper. "No, not that I'm aware of. I'm sorry I couldn't help you in this matter," After that, I nodded.
"It's all right, I understand," It's inevitable. I guess all I have to do is be strong and brave for myself and Reya. "I have one more question,”
I needed to know how I could help Devin. "Devin, the ghost who has been following me around. How can I help him?" She then stood up and took something from one of her cabinets.
It appears to be a candle and a bowl. "What's that for?" She then filled the bowl with water and lit the candle. "It's for me to figure out how to help Devin and I'm guessing Devin is here, right?"
When I turned to look at Devin, he gave me a wink. That made me roll my eyes.
"Yes, he is right now," Then she smiled. "Well, I guess I just need his help right now."
She then began to chant and murmured something under her breath while holding the candle above the water-filled bowl.
"Devin, could you please tell me what happened to you? Take my hand in yours." Devin then approached her and took her hand in his. She then closed her eyes for a while.
Then, all of a sudden, she gasped, her eyes wide open. She poured the candle wax into the water right away. The candle wax began to form at that point.
"I see two people: a man and a woman," I'm curious what that means. "Someone in your life has either wronged you or you have wronged someone else, and neither of you can let go,"
Devin looked puzzled when I looked at him. "Um, he looks confused; what do you mean?" She then gave a solemn expression.
"Your friend has unfinished business here on Earth, which is why he can't cross over," He then looked at me, a worried expression on his face.
"Ask her what will happen if I am unable to cross," I then nodded and turned to face the woman. "He's wondering what will happen to him if he can't cross over?" Then she frowned.
"He will wander the earth, gradually losing every memory he has, and then vanish for all eternity. Never again will he be reincarnated," I then gasped, a look of surprise on both of our faces.
"Will he be gone forever?" She then nodded her head solemnly, her face filled with sadness. "A spirit, ghost, or whatever you want to call it, can only cross over when his or her soul is at peace,"
I then looked at him, my eyes wide with curiosity. Why wouldn't his soul be at peace? What happened to him? How did he pass away? I'm at a loss for words because I have so many questions.
He appears dazed as well, as if pondering what his unfinished business might be. "What about the woman and man you mentioned? Who are they?"
She then shrugged her shoulders. “It could be anyone, but I'm pretty sure it's related to your friend's unfinished business,"
There was a lot going on. I'm not even sure what I'd do if I were him. To wander the earth only to completely lose myself and vanish as if I never existed. What a terrifying thought. That never occurred to me as a possibility.
Is it possible that my father has already passed on? I don't want him to go off and disappear. When she called out my name, my thoughts were completely disrupted.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I was just lost in thought," She then nodded her head, recognizing my dilemma. "Is that all you two need?" I then smiled at her and nodded my head.
"Many thanks for your help!" She then hugged me tightly. "No problem, you're welcome to drop by at any time," She then led us out of her home and waved us goodbye.
When I looked at Devin, I noticed he had a solemn expression on his face. I felt sorry for him. What person wouldn't be? Now I feel a little bad for turning him down earlier.
This time, I promised myself to help him in finding peace so he could cross over. That is something I would want for my loved ones as well. So I'll help him.
"Don't worry, Devin; I'll help you cross-over. So cheer up for the time being," I smiled at him with all my might. He then looked at me and smiled, but his smile didn't reach his eyes.
I understood that, after hearing what Madame Rosa just said, I would be sad and worried as well. When we arrived at my house, we were greeted by my ray of sunshine. Reya.
"Hi sweetie, how was your day?" she smiled brightly at me and signed. "It was wonderful, Hannah and I were making origami!" I smiled at that and looked at Hannah who was smiling as well.
"Thank you, Hannah; I'll take care of Reya now and say hi to Mrs. Benson for me! See you tomorrow," She nodded her head at that and left, leaving me alone with Reya and Devin.
After dinner and tucking Reya into bed. I went to find Devin. He suddenly disappeared. He must've been really upset that he wanted to be alone.
I don't know much about him. But now I really want to. I want to help him in any way I can, even if it's difficult. I want to help him. I promised myself that.
