Chapter 12: Breaking Point
Adrian POV
The storm that was building within Adrian was reflected in the one outside. He was pacing wildly in his study as Nathaniel's remarks kept coming back to him. The older guy had not omitted any information, revealing the meticulously crafted barriers Adrian had put up over the years to conceal his suffering. Even worse than the crushing weight of the discourse was Adrian's mounting sense of treachery toward Elena.
"Three years," he said to himself. "Three years I’ll never get back."
Elena stepped through the creaking door, her face white but determined. She had listened to Nathaniel's disclosures, and her tense stance indicated that she was prepared for a fight.
