I observed from the shadows, a sense of subdued contentment growing inside me. Everything had been so ideal. Adrian's public declaration of love, the gallery, and the opening of Elena's show had all gone as planned. I was well aware of how to control these situations and use them to my benefit.
Elena, however, was something I had undervalued. I had underestimated her strength. Adrian as well. They were far more tenacious and well-connected than I had realized.
That wouldn't stop me, however.
