Unending rows of green, caressed by the early light, spanned the vineyard in front of me. It had a mystical quality, as if the earth itself gave life to everyone who came into contact with it. After years of serving as Adrian's haven, it was now ours, a blank canvas on which a fresh family narrative could be created.
"Lily!" I covered my eyes from the light and called. "Sweetheart, hurry up or the strawberries will run out!"
