The evening had come, and the air had a warmth to it that I hadn't experienced in a while. It was one of those rare nights when everything appeared to come together just so. My relationship with Alex was finally progressing, the vineyard was doing well, and I felt closer to the family than ever. For the first time in years, I permitted myself to relax, to stand back, and to be grateful for all we had put so much effort into creating.
