CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE :
Even though Alex was unable to continue with his vision, the incident at the shop continued. Tom and Barry McTaggart had a tough reputation in this part of London, especially for their strong-arm tactics in their protection racket, but in their present subdued state, they were unrecognizable as the same two men. Their captors led them towards a car parked nearby. Obediently, they took a seat in the back of the Vauxhall, the two Italians taking the front seats.
The driver wasted no time and, after turning on the ignition, he put his foot hard on the accelerator, obviously in a hurry to escape the area. The car sped off in the direction of the North Circular Road at South Woodford, heading towards the M11, which continued northwards towards Cambridge.
