Jax’s POV
I carefully brushed Elena’s hair aside, getting a clear view of her angelic face. She looked so peaceful while sleeping. Thick eyebrows and lashes, a refined nose, rosy cheeks, and soft pink lips tinted with nude lipstick.
She seemed completely at ease, unlike three days ago when she had been crying and screaming.
“You look really in love with your girlfriend, sir…” the driver, who spoke with a Canadian accent, reMarked. l met his eyes in the rearview mirror and saw him smirking.
“She’s not my girlfriend…” l whispered, surprised by the disappointment l felt saying it.
“Still courting her? l bet she’ll be your girlfriend by the end of this trip, sir.”
“No.” l laughed lightly. “We only met a few weeks ago.”
Although l wanted to keep holding her while she slept, l eventually had to wake her so the driver could rest.
“Elena…” l called softly, tapping her cheek. After a few tries, she stirred, rubbing her eyes adorably as she took in the surroundings. When she realized we were nearly at the beach, her eyes sparkled with joy.
“Oh my gosh! We’re finally here!” she exclaimed like an excited child. l stayed quiet, simply watching her clap with delight.
Elena quickly opened the door and stretched her arms wide.
When l stepped out and stood beside her, l saw her eyes were closed, as if she wished she could stay in this moment forever.
Why is she so adorable? Damn, l wish l could stay with her like this for a long time too.
“This is going to be amazing! Let’s check into our room and enjoy the rest of the day, Jax!” she said enthusiastically before hurrying back to the car, grabbing her bag, and walking ahead without waiting.
The driver helped me unload the luggage from the trunk before l followed her with our bags.
“Elena, wait for me f**k!” My words cut off as sharp pain shot through my arm after colliding with a woman.
My hands released the luggage, and l nearly lost balance. The first thing l noticed was the sparkling silver necklaces around her neck and multiple bracelets on her wrist.
“I’m so sorry, mister! Let me help you!” the woman said, grabbing my arm.
My eyes widened in panic as l tried to push her away, but she held on tightly. l grew weaker by the second. The smell of silver burned my nose, and the metal felt scalding against my skin.
“Are you done flirting with her?” a familiar voice suddenly asked from in front of me. The woman whom l barely knew now had her arms wrapped around my waist, practically hugging me.
