CHAPTER FIFTY-SIX Friday: it's more of the same. Lou Steinberg calls the paper to let me know he’s keeping a sharp eye on the teletype just in case anything might come up about Bobby Mason. I know Lou's working on a half dozen cases, but that's the kind of guy he is, always concerned and caring. Mrs. Roper calls to let me know that Mrs. Severson collapsed after she heard that Mason was wanted for the murder of her son and is in intensive care at St. Joseph's Hospital. I ask if there was anything I could do. The answer was negative. I watch Mrs. Williams on television doing an interview with KPHO-TV's news chief, Jack Murphy. She is dressed to the nines.
