Richard didn't understand what had happened but picked to race, trying to stop her.
"Alison, you need to stop now." Richard's grip on her was a firm one.
She shook her head. "No no. He...or she...has to be here. It all started from...the wedding. He told me!"
"Okay, yes. You're right." His voice was calm and sweet, just the right tone to put Alison at ease. "But right now, I don't trust most of the people in that room. Let's go, Maggie is waiting for us."
It felt like her whole world was crumbling down. How would she tell Richard that she didn't come to his party because of him??
"I'm sorry, I need to leave." She said at last.
Richard's heart sank. "Leave? What am I supposed to tell Maggie?" No. What was he supposed to tell himself? He was already so excited to spend a moment with her.
"I'm sorry, tell her something came up. I'll make it up to her." Alison said.
"Okay Cinderella, but could I at least get a phone line where I can reach you later? Not that on your social media account. A personal line." Richard dared to ask.
"Um..." Did she want to give out her personal line? Only Mira and Celine had access to that, "Okay. Here it is." She said at last.
As she rushed out, she bumped into a figure. Tall handsome man but had dark shades on and a mask. Now, as she bumped on him and quickly made attempt to apologize, she felt something rise in her chest making her to be afraid
This man looked familiar, like the unspeakable Jimmy Cambridge, famous for being the psychopath who killed his own mother. Crazy people made up the Cambridge household and Alison is always grateful each day that she didn't give birth to any child to that household!
The man quickly hid his face walking fast and far away from her. Alison shrugged, goosebumps appearing on her skin.
After leaving, her next thought was to head home and relax. And it would have been possible, only!...what the heck?
She noticed the disaster the moment she stepped foot at the entrance of her apartment. The door was slightly left opened which signified that someone had entered her house without her awareness.
Next, she began to dial Mira's number but it was not going through! "Mira, why won't you pick up!"
Fear was creeping through her chest now as she took another step forward. "They must have left already , right?" The thoughts in her head gave way for confidence. She took one step in, and a strangled gasp escaped from her mouth.
Her chairs had been turned upside down. The center table was shifted, some of the picture frames she hung on the wall were destroyed.
Her phone was still in her hand as she continued to dial Mira's number..still not reachable.
Slowly, she began to advance closer. Whoever had come in there was searching for something. It was so obvious with the way they had destroyed the whole apartment.
She hesitated calling the cops. They would be better at settling matters like this and finding out who the culprits might have been. Finally, she brought the phone to dial the number.
Suddenly, a sound of something crashing was heard from the entrance to the kitchen. Instantly, Alison picked to race. The culprit was still inside!
Her hand dialed in 911 but as she was about to click call, a heavy force collapsed on her with a loud noise.
She fell to the floor and realized a man had trampled on her! "Let go of me! Who the hell are you!" Her chest was beating so fast now.
She crawled and was about to gather her strength to start running but the person held her leg tight so she couldn't move. Alison cried out for help but no one was around.
She kicked the face of who was holding her leg and the voice cried out in pain. Alison jumped up but was stopped by a figure again..
"I'm sorry." He said. He was covered in a black mask. Why did she recognize this voice?
"Get out of my sight!" Alison barked. She looked around for a form of weapon to smash on his face but there was no time to run and grab any weapon. The one on the floor was groaning but would soon stand up.
They were more than one! Was there still someone else inside??
Alison was shaking now, but she still managed to hold up this confidence. "Who are you? We can talk things out, with common sense! Whatever you need is probably with me so why harm me?? Huh?"
If there's anything she had learnt, it was to stall. She was trying so her hand could hit the dial button and call the cops. But she couldn't even bring the screen to see what other number her fingers would have accidentally clicked.
From behind, she felt a heavy shadow fall on her until it was too late. Someone behind her took the phone and smashed it, instantly making the pieces scatter everywhere. Alison screamed out from fear.
This was another person entirely! They were three strangers in her room for f**k sake!
That phone was her only way of escaping! She was racking her head for a new plan. Now these men had surrounded her, three men who looked stronger than her. What could she do in this situation now?
"Get away from her!" The scream came with a loud thud as strong feet met with the door to crash it wide open. Then in a loud noise, a woman stepped in with a form of attack.
"Mira!" Alison cried out from relief.
The center one in front of Alison scoffed out in disbelief. He seemed to be the leader. "It's another girl, guys. Don't harm them, just hit them to knock them out. Then search them. Remember what we're here for."
The rest of them replied to their master. They looked so much at ease, ready to launch their attack on them. Mira stood beside Alison. "When I call the signal, I want you to run outside as fast as you can, okay?"
Alison nodded.
"Don't let her out of our sight!" Said the leader of the culprits. "Come on boys, let's get to work now."
