Chapter 10

Cassie I walked out onto my large balcony and sat on the soft, cushioned sofa, taking small sips of my coffee. I was trying to keep myself calm and process everything that had just happened.  Andre sat right next to me, our legs touching each other, the small sensations running through me as I felt his skin on mine.   “Is it ok if I put my hand on yours?” He asked quietly, his eyes pleading as he looked into mine.  My breath was instantly taken away, I just nodded my head.  His eyes were blue, like the sea, deep filled with emotions I was yet to understand.  He had the same blonde, shaggy hair as his brothers and his skin was tanned.  He was enormous, muscles bulging out of his thin T-shirt, why was he only wearing a shirt anyway, could he not feel how chilly it was?  My eyes finally landed on his face, I didn’t actually realise I was checking him out until I saw the big smirk on his face, “Like what you see?” His voice was smooth, even sexy, I am not sure how a voice could be sexy, but he definitely was.   I realised what he was saying and turned into a beetroot, how could I get caught checking him out? He chuckled at my response, taking his finger and trailing it down my jawline, he gently lifted my chin to see him.  “I like that you were looking at me, I was checking you out too.”  Now it was his turn to go slightly pink.  I couldn’t help but giggle which seemed to lighten the tension “Why don’t we each take turns asking the other one a question, that way we can start getting to know each other?”  Andre asked.   “Ok, are there any rules?” I asked cautiously.  I had never been alone with a man and was feeling a little bit concerned.  Andre must have noticed.   “I promise I won’t do anything without your complete consent,” He said gently.  “The only rules are that we answer honestly, werewolves are always completely honest with their mates.” I could feel my breathing calming down, I am not sure why but I felt like I could trust Andre, as if I knew him already.  I slowly turned towards him, keeping my hand in his.  “Ok, I ‘ll go first, mmmm, What do you prefer, savoury or sweet?”  I thought I would go in easy, try and lighten things up, it had been quite intense downstairs.   “Savoury,” he smiled, “Steak is my favourite food, it’s a wolf thing.”  I couldn’t help but smile.   “Ok, my turn,” he smirked.  “Who is Jonathan?” he was looking me straight in the eyes.  “So much for treading gently,” I whispered.   “I am sorry, but my wolf is driving me crazy, I have to know, is he your boyfriend.”  I could see that Andre was losing himself.  His eyes began to change colour, I am not sure why but I began drawing circles on his arm, I think my touch began to sooth him.  I continued tickling him as I spoke, “Before I start you must know something about me, I have never been with a man before, never been on a date or really even spoken to one.  I did work as a waitress and lots of drunk men tried, but I up until now I have never found anyone who I was attracted to, in fact Josh and I both felt that we could be a-sexual.”  I felt his finger on my chin as he lifted my head to face him. “Until now?” he questioned quietly “Until now!” A huge smile grew on his face. For a minute I froze, he was so incredibly beautiful. I lifted my hand to his face, grazing my fingers down his jaw line.  The tingles and sparks were something I had never before experienced.  He gently took my hand and kissed my knuckles, the feel of his lips were so intimate.  “Please continue,” his voice was hoarse. “My brothers and I grew up in a very loving family, my parents, although poor, loved us and worked very hard to keep us in a house and put food on the table.  We didn’t have much but we also never went without.” “Brothers?” he questioned, “You have another brother? “Yes, Josh is actually a twin, our brother Jonathan was born severely disabled.  My parents refused to put him in a home and took care of him at our house.  My mom was his full time carer which is why we didn’t have much.  My dad had a simple sales job that barely kept food on the table.  But we were a very happy family, Josh and I are not fussy, we don’t need much.”  Andre nodded, processing what I was saying.  I couldn’t believe how comfortable I was with him, speaking about things that were so personal, yet it felt so right.  “Five years ago our parents were in a car crash……..” I went on to explain everything about our situation that lead to us taking these jobs.  Andre listened intently, I couldn’t believe I was sharing all my private information with him, I have never told anyone about our lives.  While I was talking I found it hard to look at him, the things I was telling him were so personal.  As I finished I felt his hand on my face, he looked me straight in the eye.   “You and Josh have been through so much, it must’ve been very difficult leaving Jonathan behind!” His voice was soft and sincere.  No one besides Josh had ever shown me any sort of kindness, I am not sure what it was about Andre but he was breaking down my walls, brick by brick.  Tears streamed down my face, nothing could stop the waterfall that my eyes had become.   Andre never said anything, he just picked me up as if I was as light as a feather, placed me on his lap with my head on his chest and wrapped his large strong arms around me.  The sound of his heartbeat was soothing and eventually I was lulled to sleep.
