Chapter 5

I woke up in my room, Jacob was lying next to me while Peter was sitting on a chair near the bed.  “Good morning to you,” he smirked.  I tried to sit up but my head was killing me.  Peter stood up and passed me some water and panadol.  

“Sorry, we didn’t have time to do the correct dosage, you and Jacob were both going completely crazy.” he couldn’t keep the smile from his face. “So, finally your mates are here, and it’s all because of me.” I swear his chest puffed up.  

Thoughts of Cassie ran through my mind, I had never been attracted to anyone, but one glance at this girl has sent my hormones, and wolf into a frenzy.  I could feel Thane pushing through again.  I began to breathe, telling him to calm down we would see her soon.  Luckily this time it worked, I don’t think he wanted us knocked out again.  

“Where is she?” I croaked.  I wanted her near me, not in the employees room where any human male could have a go at her.  

“Don’t worry, I have put her here on your floor and Josh on Jacobs floor, they both have beautiful rooms right next to yours.” Peter finished his sentence as Jacob began to stir.  

Peter filled him in on everything as he handed him some pain killers.  

“I have also let the pack know so that no one tries to come near them, not that it has stopped people in the past.” His lips became thin as he said the last part of the sentence.  The chaos those girls had caused, the upset to Hettie and Chris was terrible.  It didn’t help that Hettie had just found out she was pregnant again which had made Peter even more protective.  

I leaned back on my headboard and closed my eyes.  Trying to figure out my next move, Cassie had not grown up in a pack, had never been around werewolves, how was I going to explain everything.  Jacob was no better off than me. 

“They know something strange happened at the restaurant, they want an explanation’” Peter spoke.  

“What did you tell them?” I asked curiously.  

“That it is complicated and that you and Jacob would be better able to explain.” Well that was not helpful at all.  Peter could see both our looks of dismay and decided to call Hettie for help.  A few minutes later there was a knock on the door.  Hettie came in with a massive smile on her face.  Chris bounced around next to her.  

“You've found your mates!!!” Chris was jumping all over my bed.  “And it’s all because I needed a teacher, I am the reason you found her! Mmmy dad can read, I’m the one who can’t'' We all burst out laughing.  He really is the reason.  I am sure Josh, with his fantastic culinary skills, would've looked for something in town if it wasn’t for Cassie.  She had told Hettie in the interview that this was all her idea.  Josh and her seemed really close, I like that she loved her family.  

“Hettie, what do we do?” I heard Jacob croak out.  Hettie smiled at us as she closed the door.  “You know if we get close to them we will lose it, our wolves will push through.  Did you see how gorgeous Josh is!”.  You could hear Jacob’s wolf trying to surface, just the thought of having his mate so near was driving him crazy.  

“I know,” Hettie responded, “We all thought you would be mated to someone in our pack or a neighbouring pack but the Moon Goddess had her own ideas.” She smiled, her eyes sparkling at the same time.  “The only thing we can do now is to be honest and hope they don’t run for the hills.” A low growl escaped my mouth, Hettie just ignored me and continued.  “It’s almost dinner time, I will invite them to join us so that they can meet you both, we will then have to talk to them. Just because they are human, does not mean they don’t feel the pull.”  I smiled as Hettie finished her sentence.  “Now get up and shower, Peter will speak to Josh and I will speak to Cassie.  We will meet you downstairs in a bit.” She grabbed Chris and dragged him out, Peter followed. “Wear something sexy’” she laughed as she walked out. Jacob got off my bed and walked towards the door.  “I can’t believe they are here,” he whispered so quietly I almost missed it.
