Chapter one

Lunawyn POV The cab horn blared as I stumbled outside to inspect the opulence of my father's mansion. It was not new to me anymore, but today it felt different. It was not the same as when I had left it in the morning. I had gone early this morning to get my patient treated, not as if I were a doctor, but as a Medicine Lady because that was the moon goddess' gift to me. I adored and enjoyed getting people treated. I sashayed into the mansion in my ballerina gown, bouncing with each step as I struggled to pack my long hair, which was now scattered. I turned towards the garden and found the main house's entrance. I noticed maids and guards preparing items that astounded me. It was the Moonlight Garden, and for a brief moment, I stood there puzzled by whatever was going on. The garden had been completely transformed into a moonlit oasis, complete with lanterns and a grand fountain, leaving my brow furrowed in confusion. My eyes widened in horror as I approached the garden and saw my sister, Lykania, and my boyfriend, Orion, exchanging vows. The moonlight shone down on them, casting a warm glow on the ceremony, but all I could feel was a cold chill running down my spine. I stumbled backwards, gasping in disbelief, causing the bunch of vase flowers on my back to crumble on the floor, making noises and alerting the people in front of me. Lykania was the first to look up at me, followed by the rest of the family. My parents' eyes widened in shock, but not for the two deceitful people in front of me. "Lunawyn, you... returned early?" That was my mother's next question, and I felt tears well up in my eyes. Was she just asking me that? "No, no, no," I whispered, trembling as I shook my head repeatedly. "This can not be true, right?" I felt like I had been punched in the gut, and my breath was knocked out of me. I lost track of time as my mind raced, attempting to process what I was seeing. Orion, my five-year-old boyfriend, was getting married to my sister. Today? With no warning? The fact that he knew I was already pregnant for him. I told him about his unborn child this morning, and his response did not put me off. ""My dear Luna, let us get married that way. Is this not a better option?"" He had deceived me through words. My gaze shifted to my sister's face, looking for any sign of remorse or guilt, but Lykania's expression was dead; all she did was fix her gaze on Jack, a radiant smile on her face. I was going insane; I could feel my body leaving my soul. My heart ached, and my body vibrated as tears oozed from my eyes. Yes, they were hot tears. As I took a step back, my heart raced, and I felt like I was about to collapse. I placed my hand on my chest, sobbing in pain because I could not feel my heart anymore. It was more like I had died. My mother looked at me pitifully, holding out her hand for me to hold, but I yanked it away. I refused to believe whatever was going on. Orion had promised to love me and stay by my side forever. Even when I was not given a Luna title anymore because of him. And now was he going to marry my sister? I am his fated mate, if I recall correctly. Tears streamed down my cheeks as I struggled to find words, my breath seizing every damn moment. "O... Orion, why?"" That was the only question I asked before proceeding. ""I am your mate, and you can not marry Lykania instead. That is considered taboo."" Despite the looks of the current members of our pack, I sobbed out. As far as I knew, we were mates, and it was not possible for me or him, but his next words sent a dagger into my heart, and I felt something pierce my soul a million times. "That is why I have been waiting for you to arrive." He simply responded, and I squinted my eyes at him. No, he would not. I am pregnant with his child, no. "I love Lykania, and having her as the Luna of your pack completes me." He said, and I held tight to my grip while biting my lips. ""What will we do about our baby? I have your chair..... "I am rejecting you, Lunawyn." His words were brief, but they shattered my hopes. "W...w... "I, Alpha Orion of the Orion Pack, reject you, Lunawyn Cormar of the Cormar Pack, forever." He announced, and I shook my head repeatedly in disagreement, but the deeds had already been completed. I felt as if my entire world had collapsed around me. I had put my trust in Orion and loved him wholeheartedly. But now I realize I don't even know him. He was a beast. A beast in sheep's clothing, and a cunning one at that. This was a lot for me to handle. It was just too much. I dashed towards them in terror, clutching Orion's collar like the desperate person I would become, but his next move caught me off guard. He threw me off in disgust and despair, and my back landed further away from the event, making my parents gasp in horror. I tried to stand up but was unable to do so because I could not breathe. I had lost all of my power and strength. Strength to even heal myself. He used his power on me. He..... All I could feel was pain and anguish; I groaned in pain as blood gushed out of my body. My mother rushed to my side, in tears, clutching my hand tightly, but I yanked them away with hatred. My face became blurry as I heard her yell for help, and it appeared too late. It was too late to do anything, but I prayed desperately in my heart. ""Moon goddess, please spare your child this once. Please."
