Chapter 1
Alexis McCoy ran up the stairs to her Nana’s trailer. The wide, spacious deck that her handiman brother, Jason, had built was already crammed with seedlings that Nana was cultivating for her extensive vegetable gardens. They were lucky that Nana’s trailer was on a bit of land and not in a park; it made them feel one step above total trailer trash and up the ladder to being just plain country.  Nana was the opposite of trash - she was a simple woman who lived as minimally and sustainability as possible. Her mindset came from her days living on a hippie commune in the 1960’s, which is where she honed her expert green. Though she was kind and gentle, she was resourceful and hard-scramble, values that she was able to instill in two thirds of her grandchildren - her other granddaughter, Amber, was about as materialistic as they come. Amber was always jumping from one MLM to the next and had no problem pilfering Nana’s cash to fund her #bossbabe ventures. Nana always warned her but Amber never listened and that’s how the whole family ended up with a lifetime supply of leggings. Alexis let herself into the trailer, which was spotless despite its age. Nana kept a clean home, adorned with a few meaningful decorations that she had accumulated throughout her lifetime. Alexis kicked off her kitchen clogs by the front door, eager for a shower. She was covered head to toe in flour from her job at the local bakery, a job she wasn’t sure she would have much longer, as the pandemic was wreaking havoc on restaurants and small businesses such as the one she worked at. She was a talented baker, an attribute that Nana took notice of and great pride in. Nana had suggested that Alexis pursue culinary school - a dream for Alexis but the reality of affording culinary school from their trailer in West Virginia was unattainable. Instead, she played Chopped with Nana and Jason, letting them pick out basket ingredients from the Piggly Wiggly. That’s how Alexis created her signature confection, potato chip and chocolate chip cookies. The perfect balance of sweet and salty led them to almost always sell out at the farmer’s market that Nana slung produce at. It was fortunate for them, as vendors, that farmer’s markets had become bougie hobbies but unfortunate for their low-income neighbors who used to rely on the cheap food. Nana always donated whatever she didn’t sell to her friends in need, making her a tie-dyed angel in their community.  Of course Nana was in her garden, watering her babies from the rain barrel that Jason had gotten for her when he installed new gutters on the trailer. Nana’s gardens were immaculate; she had even twisted branches into intricate designs to create their fencing. It was a bountiful oasis that she had cultivated over years of hard work and had been able to grow enough to sell at local farmer’s markets. Alexis and Jason were pretty sure that Nana also grew pot, as selling tomatoes didn’t seem like it should cover the property taxes and utilities on their land but Nana somehow always made it work.  Alexis made her way across the living room and into the kitchen, where she went to set a chocolate cream pie in the fridge. It was Jason’s birthday and that was his favorite. Jason came to their family when he was just a toddler - his mother was apparently a disgraced socialite who had gotten pregnant without knowing Jason’s paternity. It had sent her into a deep depression and she spiraled, becoming unable to care for sweet, little Jason. Alexis’ mother was a social worker who immediately took the toddler in. He was the same age as Alexis and their mother, Nana’s daughter, kindly figured what was one more baby. She would feed and clothe and love on every baby in the world if she could. It was a shame that both Alexis’ mother and father perished in a car accident mere weeks after they welcomed Jason into their family. In the confusing aftermath of their death and Nana assuming the care of her three grandchildren, Jason’s adoption paperwork never got filed properly but nothing ever came of it; he just stuck around. So he technically wasn’t their brother but he was certainly Alexis’ best friend who she had incredible, forbidden chemistry with and the amount of s****l tension between them became increasingly more palpabable as they got older. It was because of Jason that Alexis was still a virgin; she never got a single date in high school because Jason made it clear to the males in their small town that she was completely off-limits.   Alexis never minded Jason’s possessiveness, as she was a homebody who preferred to stay at home, experimenting in the kitchen or helping Nana in her gardens. “Hey Red, how was work?” Jason asked from his spot at the tiny dining table. He had always called her Red, as Alexis had gorgeous, strawberry blonde locks that cascaded down her back in natural waves. It was currently braided into a wreath around her freckled, sun kissed face. Her green eyes twinkled when she saw him.  “The bakery is struggling,” she replied, “but at least I had enough time to make your favorite. Happy birthday!” Alexis squeezed his strong, broad shoulder as Jason peeked into the pink cake box.  “Mmm, I do love a good cream pie,” he said coyly, winking his dark eyes at her. Jason was a big man, easily 6’4’’ and had the athletic, muscular build of an offensive lineman, a position in which he went all-state in high school. He was tan from working outside as a handyman and had a knack for fixing basically anything he laid his large, rough hands on. He had grown out his hair and beard during the pandemic, only accuentating his chiseled features. Alexis rolled her eyes at his comment; their fliration was getting out of control.  “Is that my scrunchie?” She asked as she snatched the cloth hair tie from his dark locks. He grabbed it right back. “Hey, I couldn’t find anything else,” he laughed, playfully playing keep away from her and holding it high over his head, as she pawed at his chest, trying to get her scrunchie back. Alexis eventually gave up.  “I have to shower before your party tonight,” she said. His birthday party. Jason remembered begrudgingly. He hated being the center of attention but he loved his sister’s and grandmother’s cooking, so he could tolerate the trade off. He flashed a grin at Alexis.  “Shower? See you in there.” Alexis threw the scrunchie back at him. “You have no shame,” she said. Jason shook his head no, still smiling. He had been watching her shower since their bodies began to blossom and had no plans on stopping now. Alexis was the most gorgeous woman he’d ever seen and he technically wasn’t her brother. Alexis never really minded Jason watching her in the shower, in fact, she rather enjoyed it. It was the one, secret time in her life where she could be completely uninhibited and could experiment with herself, as Jason ensured no men went near her. Though an actual, physical relationship felt taboo to both of them, the shower was the one arena where they could satiete their intense desires. Alexis made her way down the short hallway to the one bathroom in the trailer, where she slid down her flour dusted overalls, exposing her lace trimmed camisole and matching panties. She’d left the door cracked, as she always did to welcome her peeping tom. She glanced over her shoulder and saw Jason already in the crack of the door, his dark eyes filled with passion only for her, as she finished stripping and stepped gingerly into the tub. Jason had removed his work shirt, revealing his toned, tanned skin that glowed in the late afternoon light. She let the warm water cleanse her body as she lathered herself with a bar of homemade soap. Steam filled the bathroom as Jason grunted softly from his obvious hiding spot, with his hands clearly down his pants. Alexis turned her body towards him, caressing her breasts before moving her hands down her flat stomach and touching herself, closing her eyes and arching her back, letting the water saturate her long, red hair. Her body begged her to ask Jason to come join her; all she wanted was to feel his body on top of hers. She often fantasized about Jason. He was her best friend, he understood her. He had gotten all of Nana’s kindness while putting on the strong, silent exterior of a blue collar man from West Virginia. She yearned to be by his side, physically, with all of her being. All her senses became alert at the very thought of making love to him, nearly sending her over the edge…
