When the moon calls, some hearts must answer—even if it costs them everything.Elara Gray has spent her life haunted by dreams she can’t explain—dreams filled with silver forests, glowing eyes, and the sound of a distant howl echoing through her soul. In the quiet mountain town of Eldergrove, she’s always felt like an outsider. Her senses are too sharp, her intuition too strong, and her emotions… unpredictable. When her grandmother dies unexpectedly and leaves her a secluded, vine-wrapped estate deep in the woods, Elara is drawn there with a pull she can’t resist. The townspeople speak of the place with unease, warning her of strange noises and wild creatures that roam after dark—but Elara has never feared the forest. She feels strangely at home there. That is, until the night she is attacked.Saved by a stranger with feral eyes and impossible strength, Elara is thrust into a world she never knew existed—a world of wolves who walk like men, ancient rivalries, and blood-bound secrets that stretch back generations. Her rescuer, Kael, is not just any man. He is a Guardian—part of a sacred wolf-shifter lineage tasked with protecting the delicate boundary between the human world and the supernatural realm hidden deep in the forest. Bound by oath, Kael has spent years in the shadows, enforcing the old laws, hunting those who dare to threaten the pack’s secret existence. But Elara is more than a curious human girl. She is the key to a prophecy long buried—a prophecy that speaks of a forgotten bloodline and a lost wolf heir whose awakening will either reunite the divided clans or plunge them into eternal war.Kael knows he should stay away from her. She’s unpredictable, vulnerable, and carries a destiny that could destroy everything he’s sworn to protect. Yet every time they meet, the pull between them grows stronger, defying logic and ancient law. Something deep within her calls to something wild in him—and no matter how hard he tries to resist, Kael finds himself drawn into a dangerous spiral of desire, instinct, and forbidden love.As Elara begins to uncover the truth about her lineage, strange changes begin to stir within her—visions, heightened senses, and flashes of memories that don’t belong to her. The forest starts to respond to her presence. The moonlight reveals more than shadows. And whispers in the dark speak her name. But not all wolves welcome her return. There are those who would kill to stop the prophecy from coming true—rogue shifters, corrupted leaders, and creatures twisted by power. As tensions rise between the fractured packs and loyalties are tested, Elara must navigate a world where allies are rare, enemies wear familiar faces, and nothing is quite what it seems. With Kael at her side, torn between duty and love, Elara must embrace the truth of who—and what—she is. But doing so means making impossible choices: between the girl she was and the wolf she’s becoming, between loyalty and freedom, between survival… and sacrifice.Whispers of the Moon is a sweeping paranormal romance filled with haunting mystery, untamed passion, and a slow-burning connection that defies fate. Set against the backdrop of mist-covered forests and ancient wolf legends, this is a tale of awakening, forbidden love, and the primal call of destiny. Elara and Kael’s journey is one of transformation—of claiming power, facing the shadows of the past, and discovering that sometimes, the wildest hearts are the ones born to change everything. When the blood moon rises, will Elara rise with it… or be consumed by the darkness waiting beneath the surface?

Chapter one: Shadows Beneath the pines
The wind howled low through the pines, carrying with it the chill of a coming storm. Elara pulled her hood tighter, the rough wool brushing against her cheek as she stepped off the gravel road and into the forest. The village festival behind her still echoed with laughter, distant music fading like a forgotten dream. But she needed air—space to breathe, to think. And to escape the weight she always carried. Tonight marked her twenty-third birthday, though no one outside the pack cared enough to remember. Not that she blamed them. She was the outsider in a village built on tradition and bloodlines, and despite being born into it, Elara had never truly belonged. Her mother’s death had changed everything. The whispers started then. The sideways glances. The questions about whether her blood was really as pure as the elders claimed. Elara didn’t care about purity. She just wanted answers. About her mother’s death. About the strange dreams that had plagued her since. And most of all, about the man who appeared at the edge of those dreams, always watching with eyes the color of fire-lit amber. Her boots crunched softly over dry leaves, the moonlight dripping through the canopy in pale slivers. The forest felt alive tonight—charged. Every sound seemed louder. Every shadow deeper. That’s when she sensed it. Not a sound. Not a shape. Just… presence. She spun. Nothing. But her wolf stirred within her. Alert. Curious. Hungry. Elara took a slow breath, reaching for that inner thread that connected her to the beast. Her control over the shift had grown stronger over the years, but this wasn’t a time to lose herself. Not yet. Then he stepped out of the shadows. Tall. Broad-shouldered. His black coat blending with the night, save for the silver clasp at his collar and the glint of something wild in his eyes. Eyes that locked with hers, rooted her to the forest floor. Kael. She didn’t know his name, not yet. But her soul reacted before her mind could catch up. The stranger watched her with unsettling calm, as if he’d known she’d be here. As if he’d been waiting. “Who are you?” she asked, the words quieter than intended. He took a step forward, slow, deliberate. “That depends,” he said, voice low and smooth, with an edge that brushed over her skin like a blade. “On what?” “On who you are.” Elara’s pulse quickened. Her wolf growled softly beneath the surface, not in fear, but in recognition. Desire. It confused her. “I asked first.” A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “You shouldn’t be out here alone.” She lifted her chin. “I can take care of myself.” “I’m sure you can,” he said, gaze dropping briefly to her hands, then back to her face. “But the forest doesn’t care.” His voice held weight, like he spoke from experience. And yet, she didn’t move. Didn’t run. She wanted to know who he was. Why he felt like a memory she couldn’t place. “You didn’t answer me,” she said. Silence. Then: “My name is Kael.” The name fell like thunder inside her chest. Kael. He said nothing more. Just watched her. Waited. And though every instinct in her said to leave, to get back to the safety of the village, Elara stayed. Her breath caught in her throat as he stepped closer—close enough for her to catch his scent: pine, smoke, and something darker. Something forbidden. Her heart thudded. “Why are you out here?” she whispered. “I could ask you the same,” he replied, his voice almost too quiet to hear. “But I already know.” He reached out—slow, careful, as if touching her might shatter the moment. His fingers brushed a loose strand of hair from her face. Her breath hitched. Then, as quickly as he’d come, Kael turned. Walked past her, disappearing into the trees like a shadow. “Wait—” But he was gone. Elara stood frozen, heart racing, a strange ache curling in her chest. She should’ve been afraid. Instead, she felt… awakened. Whatever just happened, it wasn’t over. Not even close.
