Love of the Night Lord

Night had fallen over the country Erosa and Lord Victor paced in his study. His butler James brought in his breakfast of blood and had left to over see the household. Lord Victor hated that he was alone. He longed to find his true bride. Even though he was only 1/2 human, he still didn’t age and couldn’t die. Even worse he couldn’t mate with anyone other than his true bride. He could feel her out there. But where was she!? Why did his life go on with no sign of her!? As he paced his office, he began to feel a strange sense in the back of his mind. A faint but enticing scent of youth came in through the open window. He walked over and looked out but saw nothing. Anger and despair gripped his still beating heart and he slammed the shutters closed. He knew he had smelled something so slight but delicious. He decided he needed to get out of his home. So he grabbed his cloak and told his servants not to except him home till almost dawn. Half human or not he was still as sensitive to the light just like his ancestors. His parents were not normal. His father was human while his mother was full vampire. She came from a very long line of vampire royals. After his father disgraced the family his mother change the family name from Donroa back to VonPierce. His grandfather welcomed them with open arms and even restored the family royalties. They had been disowned after his parents marriage. His mother hadn’t meant to break the laws of mating but had believed she had found her true master when she met Victors father. When the truth came out that he had tricked her, she had him executed. Now 200 years later his mother was a bride again to his stepfather, her real true master. Most would believe that a bride and master would be a purely dominant relationship. They would b wrong. The term “Master and bride”is very much like being husband and wife for humans or true mates for werewolves. The difference was the name and some responsibilities. For example no bride was able to wear another man’s mark because it was for life. That would b a ring for humans and a bite for werewolves. For vampires the mark was like a tattoo of a silver circlet crown that appeared on the brides brow after the mating was completed and the first exchange of blood that solidified the union was drank. Another example was that no bride may name their first born son. Only her master was given that honor! When Victors mother had been tricked by Victor’s father he made sure that both rules had been broken. First the mark of true master never appeared! And She had been forced to name her first and only child Victor Tyler Donroa the second. After his father. It was either that or his father would have named him Susan Bethala May Donroa. His father had wanted a daughter and when he was given a son he declared the child illegitimate. Victor never knew him. He had been executed before Victor was 2. As he walked throughout the villages he began to remember his childhood. His mother Selia (pronounced Suh-Leyuh) had taught him to trust his senses. She hadn’t and his birth was the result. He never told her about his hatred of his human heritage but that hatred was only directed at his father. And even though he was half human he still had no choice but to abide by the laws of his mothers race. Vampires only had 7 laws. 1 no vampire shall marry a human unless they are fated to be. 2 all male first borns must b named by the father. 3 all vampires must marry and mate within the first 10 years of their courtship. 4 no vampire may commit suicide or commit murder of their own kind or of unwilling humans. 5 no vampire may feed from animals or feed from humans under the age of 18 or humans unable to consent to feeding. 6 all vampires must only feed 2 times a month and no more! 7 no vampires of any title, status. culture ,or percentage of humanity may adopt any human children. If any of those laws were broken the punishment was death. Vampires could die. But only by 3 things. Fire, sunlight, and being ripped apart by other vampires. Victor’s mother was given a pardon as she had been manipulated and had wanted to return to her family the moment she found the truth. Victor ,being the product of that cruel union was also pardoned but at a price. If he didn’t find his true bride before his 300th birthday he would be exiled and stripped of all contact and privileges of his family and his species. That day was only 98 years away. And at the age of 202, he was growing impatient! As he crossed over a stone bridge that connected his family home to the town center, he was struck with that scent again! This time it was much stronger and definitely more delicious! It was drawing him to a rundown building. An orphanage. “Of all places? Why here?” He wondered aloud. He could hear the sound of soft breathing inside and saw the head mother locking the gates for the night. One of the upper floors had serval windows open. “That must be where the scent is coming from!” He thought. As the head mother turned around he moved to the orphanage’s front gate and faster that any human eye could track he had scaled the gate and climbed the left side wall where the scent was strongest. Inside he could smell young blood and hear soft breathing. He didn’t have eyes like full blood vampires but he could see enough to know this must b the girls section of the building. He inhaled deeply and there was that scent again! This time it wasn’t just delicious! It was so mouthwatering and intoxicating! He crept inside and found where the scent was originating. But as he looked at the face of the child that was to be his bride his heart broke! He couldn’t tell why but his heart ached to touch her. To take her. To mate with her! This child was his true bride! The moment he realized that she was too young and that she was human he knew he couldn’t have her. He fled from the room and sped straight home. The moment he reached his bed chambers he became more irritated and upset than he had ever been! A child! Why a child! he thought over and over! Why was he cursed!? He decided he would talk to his grandfather the next night! As he came to understand that this may not be avoided he was more certain he had to take her as his bride! Because he didn’t have another choice!
