From a hired girlfriend to a real one, Elena fell deeply in love with Alexander. Unfortunately, the man only played her and left her heartbroken. Six years later, they met again, and Alexander poured all of his regret out by doing everything to make Elena and their daughter, Kylie, happy. "Forgive me for coming late to you. May I have one last chance?" Alexander pleaded as Elena was about to leave. "The all-powerful Mr. Perfect, don't let yourself be late, turn back time and fix everything if you can! Chapter 1
"What? He blocked my number?!" Elena panicked as she realized both of her message and calls unanswered. The man in question was Alexander Franklin, a well-known real estate businessman in America who had contracted Elena as his fake girlfriend for the past three months to secure his family's inheritance. Their contract-based relationship had turned into a romantic love affair. At first, the Franklin family was looking for a good woman to be Alex's wife, but none of his girlfriends passed their approval. But Elena hit different as she was the only one who got a warm welcome, supported, and loved by the Franklin family without anyone knowing that she was just a paid girlfriend. Now, as Alex had obtained the largest share of his family's company and his relationship with Elena turned official without contract, he promised to marry her soon. "So, what my mother said was true?" Elena stared at her phone with teary eyes and her heart beating fast. She remembered her mother's frequent warnings, "Don't fall in love with Alex. He's just using you. He’s not really into you!" At first, her mother’s warning and constant rejection toward her relationship with Alex aroused her anger. She left her mother, who had asthma, home alone. Now, her mother had passed away a few hours ago, and Elena felt guilty for hurting her only for her own selfishness. To make matters worse, Alex also had disappeared and could not be reached. "Is he mad at me for slapping him? Gosh, I was just in shock before. I only feel guilty for leaving my mom for him!" "No, he said he loves me and we will get married, he promised! It's impossible if he's just using me!" "I have to find him!" Elena rushed out of the hospital, despite her grief. She was afraid that what her mother said was true, and she didn't want to be played. She had sacrificed a lot just to be with Alex. Meanwhile, in another side... Alex took Rachel into his arms. Rachel was his pregnant girlfriend whom he had left behind because of his family's inheritance. "So, you really coming back to me now?" Rachel asked, releasing her embrace and looking at Alex with hope. Alex nodded. "Of course, you said we’re going to have a baby, right?" "Ahh, you finally acknowledge your baby?" Rachel was thrilled. Finally, her decision not to have an abortion was absolutely right. "Whose child would it be? Sweety, I think we should get married soon." Alex's gray eyes radiated sincerity, and he was serious about marrying Rachel. "Married? We'll get married? Are you serious??" Rachel exclaimed as her eyes watery with emotion. She thought Alex would dump her like trash, but it turned out that the man chose to take responsibility. "Do you think I'm joking? Now pack your things, you'll be living in my house!" Alex commanded, leading Rachel into her bedroom to prepare. Without waiting any longer, Rachel packed her clothes. The sweet smile never leaving her lips as she was extremely happy. Her dream man was about to be hers. She had tried so hard to enhance her beauty to win Alex's heart. Although the man had ignored her for the past few months and broken up with her, but in the end, she did it. Alex finally returned and a happy life was about to begin. "Wait, Alex. What about that blonde girl? Don't you like her a lot? I thought you really had a serious relationship with her," Rachel recalled Elena, the girl referred to as Alex's potential wife. "Of course, no. It's just a work contract. Stop thinking about her, just focus on your pregnancy and our wedding plans!" Alex didn't want to discuss Elena, even though the girl’s innocent face with blonde hair and brown eyes kept coming back to him. "I see. Okay!" Rachel didn't want to worry about it. Securing her life was now her top priority. "Are you ready? Shall we go now?" Rachel asked, holding her suitcase. "Rachel, you go ahead first, I'll carry your bags!" Alex said, taking the two large suitcases and leading the way out. Alex smiled as he paid attention to Rachel's fair skin. This Eurasian girl had no flaws in her face or body. Unlike Elena, who was thin, innocent, dowdy, and not trendy, Rachel was a modern and cheerful beautiful girl. Alex had to admit that Elena was indeed kind and beautiful, but in terms of look and character, she was definitely not compatible with him. They went to Alex's house, which separated from the Franklin family, and since he was now in control of the largest share of the family company, Alex felt that he no longer needed to pretend and was free to choose his life partner. A few minutes later, they arrived at Alex's house, laughing and talking, but the situation turned awkward as Elena was seen standing in front of the door, pressing the bell and calling Alex's name. Elena turned around when she heard Alex's voice, but her eyes widened when she saw the man with another woman. "Isn't she his ex?" Elena asked herself. Elena approached Alex, but the man kept walking past her with his arm intimately around Rachel's waist. "Alex, I'm sorry for what happened at the hospital!" Elena said, chasing after Alex. She was confused about why Alex suddenly appeared with another woman. Weren't the two already broken up? Wasn't Alex officially belong to Elena now? No answer was given. Elena was even ignored as if she never existed, but the resilient girl didn't give up. She continued pursuing Alex. Meanwhile, Rachel threw an annoyed gaze to Elena. She gripped Alex's arm, signaling that the man was now belong to her. "Alex, I know you're mad at me for slapping you, and I regret it. Please forgive me!" Elena quickened her pace, and now she was in front of Alex, blocking the door. "Get away from me!" Alex snapped. Elena was shocked as Alex acted cold and even snapped at her. "Hey, don't you hear what Alex said?" Rachel glared at her, she didn't want Elena to ruin their relationship. "Rachel, get in first and choose any room you want. I'll take care of this girl!" Alex didn't want them to fight and pull each other's hair like most women do. "But Alex, she--" Alex placed his forefinger on Rachel's lips, making the woman shut up and not continue her sentence. Rachel exhaled loudly then threw a fierce look at Elena before entering the house. With a heavy heart, Rachel left Alex and Elena, although she was worried that the girl's presence here would make Alex change his mind and not marry her. "Alex, I'm sorry," Elena murmured, not daring to look at the hostile man in front of her. "For what?" Alex asked coldly, trying to avoid any eye contact with Elena. "For slapping you!" Elena's voice was barely audible. "Your slap had no effect on me, so, don't think too much. It's getting late now, just leave my house!" Alex became even more sarcastic and treated Elena like a nuisance. "Why did you change, Alex? You know, I just lost my mother today and we were fine before. I thought you would be by my side and support me, but instead, you disappeared. Then you acted cold to me and even brought that woman here, what does it all mean?" Elena was confused and annoyed as Alex remained silent. "Alex, answer me!" Elena demanded, getting angrier. "Elena, you better go back to the hospital and take care of your mom's funeral. Whatever I do is none of your business, so, please leave!" Alex pushed her shoulder until she took a few steps back. Damn! Alex couldn't bear to see Elena's teary face, but he tried to stay firm in his decision. "I won't leave until you explain it to me!" Elena persisted. She had to know why Alex brought Rachel to his house. "What should I explain?" Alex avoided the topic. His face looked innocent but sarcastic, teasing Elena for acting strange by asking for an explanation. "Why did you change your attitude and why did you bring that woman with you?" Elena felt it was perfectly reasonable to be angry because they had made a commitment to each other, their relationship was based on feelings and no longer a contractual agreement. So she wouldn't stay silent when Alex brings another girl right in front of her. "I don't need you anymore, because now I have acquired the right to my family's company, and I brought Rachel to live with me because she's pregnant with my child!" Elena was shocked to hear Alex's words. Her throat choked up, unable to speak. Alex, feeling awkward, decided to press his fingertips on the fingerprint scanner on the wall and opened the door to his house. Elena stood still, but eventually, she pulled Alex's arm. "Tell me if all of this is a lie and you're just angry!" Elena wanted to deny Alex's words. It was hard to accept the painful truth. "Go before I do something harsh to you!" Alex snapped, shoving Elena's shoulder until she took a few steps back. "You said you loved me and would marry me, you promised!" Elena's voice trembled. Her tears were about to fall and wet her cheeks. "Leave now!" Alex barked, his voice harsh and resonated loudly in Elena's chest, feeling painful and suffocating. Alex's face turned red with anger, and he quickly entered his house and closed the door, leaving Elena alone outside. Right at that moment, the thunder roared louder, but this time, Elena wasn't scared or shocked, as Alex's screams continued to echo in her head. Drained, Elena walked down the dark street, the pouring rain soaking her, but she ignored everything else. Elena's body became weak, her legs trembling, and her head spinning. The next second, she collapsed, unconscious.
