The light in the Shadows Council chamber was pretty dim.
It flickered as I sat across from the tall, cloaked figure who had just stepped out of the shadows.
The Shadow Council member’s voice was low but firm. It cut through the silence like a blade.
“Kade, the academy is bleeding secrets. We cannot afford another failure. You must root out any threats—especially the one hiding among your students.”
My jaw tightened.
I had felt the weight of those words for weeks now, but hearing them again only sharpened my resolve. “I understand. Liam Parker is my priority. I will find the truth. I must find anything he's hiding.”
