ACQUAINTANCE

Ana's POV Today was supposed to be that wonderful and amazing day, just like for everybody. it's my first day in highschool I will be traveling from my small home town to LA, it's a long ride but I'm willing to overlook that and yet...my problem now is going there with my grumpy step mom she hardly favours me in anything so I'm still wondering why she volunteered to escort me to my new school well, I still have my phone to call dad if anything goes wrong on the way. Looking through my room one last time, my memories with my old small room floods in..... hiding under my weak bed whenever I'm called for punishment, crawling out my small window at nights when I miss my mom or want to gaze at the beautiful moon and stars, eating snacks given by dad secretly so my step siblings won't find out and beg/snatch all...urgh! I'm going to miss this place, my room especially But I believe it's a matter of time before I return. "Anastasia!" oh I totally forgot I was packing it's probably step mom calling I horridly pack my remaining cloths, squeezed in my remaining shoes and rushed out to the front yard There was a small blue truck with mom in the front seat then my step siblings were at the entrance door with their phones in their faces, walking up to the truck, my step bro surprised me by helping me load my things in the trunk " oh please, don't show me that face, I'm only doing this so you can be far away from me, I don't want bad omen to fall on me sweety" with that Collins went in with his phone in his face I looked at my step sis, Kiara for hugs or anything but she just kept staring in her phone I Know we are step siblings but I will be out for close to 3 years, aren't they going to miss me at all. with a pouting face, I joined my step mom in the front seat She didn't even glance at me, she was busy adding colours to her face so I turned my face to the window, feeling the sunny breeze. I glanced at our house for the last time before the truck drove off to the open road I felt like crying, this is not how it's supposed to be. I'm leaving home to a far place and will be staying a long time yet, no body feels emotional, no body even gave me hugs And to top it all, it's today of all day that dad will be hell busy at work At least if he was here, he would have showed me some care, bought things for me but I'm stock here with mom, haa such is life we drove for close to ten minutes and I felt bored already. I looked at mom, who's busy with her nails and then to the driver who is focused on the road so I had no choice than to lean my head down and sleep, well I will actually call it rest cos mom's constant chewing of her gum kept me awake A mighty gallop woke me up, I didn't know I would actually fall asleep, I rose my head and was surprised the that sun was setting. looking at mom I asked " are we almost there, mom?" lifting her face from her phone she gave me the most disturbing smile" of course hon, just few miles and we are there, okay?" I nodded. my phone buzzed and I opened the message to see my dad's text :you there honey? i replied with almost there dad. it actually felt good to know someone cares. Before I can put my phone back I saw texts from my friends Norah and Jane:so girl, how did you see it ? how's school? are you busy now? why aren't you replying, OMG did your step mom succeed in kidnapping you? I laughed like never before, this girls will drive me crazy someday few miles to go and we will be there and don't worry, I will call you when I arrive. I replied them Few minutes after keeping my phone, we stopped in front of a big building, students were walking to and fro the atmosphere was blissful and noisy too " come on honey, let's go" I happily climbed down straight to the trunk, I was getting things down when step mom came to me " Ana, the driver will help you with the loads okay, mummy has things to do" with that, she turned giving me a good view of how skimpy her dress is. I mean come on, she's dressed as if she's going to see her slutty man, let's not mention her heavy make up. she disappeared out of my view so I continued with what I was doing before The driver helped me carry things to my room, room 15 I thanked him " no problem kiddo" was the last thing he said before leaving the room wasn't big but my old room isn't bigger than it either " hello! I'm joy jast but you can call me JJ" I turned to greet who spoke to me and hell no, that wasn't what I was expecting: tattoos, heavy make up, big eyebrows and not to mention her ripped cloths or should I say rags "I'm Anastasia Jones but you can call me Ana" I extend my hand " hmm, so you are my roommate huh?" she walks to the other bed at the other end and lies. Her roommate? I'm staying with her? oh come on " seems like it then" I replied with a forced smile " don't worry, you won't regret having me" she smiles too " here, let me help you unpack" I smiled to her and through out the evening, we kept packing Around to 7, we finished and she had to meet up with some friends so I'm here now, with my phone to reply those that are waiting for me:dad I'm here! and don't worry I'm safe and the place is not that bad. I promise to make you proud, love you. That one is for dad and now, my friends...: hey girly, I arrived safe, the place is cool and I'm all set for my first class tomorrow. Wish me luck! I lay on my bed, thinking of what tomorrow might bring before I drift to bed Author's POV Ana woke up early the next morning, prepared and rushed for class, she couldn't believe she overslept in her first day of school and is now very late. She almost bursts out cos she didn't even know anywhere there, it seemed to her as if she was running in circles and her phone keep buzzing, it's probably her friends replying her texts last night but she has no time for that now. she walked up to a lady " excuse me, I'm new and I finding it difficult to find the journalism class. could you help me with directions please" " oh, we are actually on the same level cos I'm new too and that's my class too! what a coincidence" Ana laughed " indeed" they wondered to the guy next to them and asked for directions which he gave them, telling them that they were 10 minutes late already. Running towards the Hall, the two ladies made it to the class and how lucky they were that the lecturer hasn't arrived. Giving themselves a happy smile, they looked for seats and sat down "I'm Gorgia by the way" " I'm Ana" Later their lecturer arrived and their first class began Around 4 in the evening, they came out of their third class, feeling exhausted " gosh, I'm so hungry" Gorgia cried and before Ana could reply her, someone replied from the back" there's a refectory down the block" they turned to the voice and saw JJ "oh this is JJ, my roommate" Ana introduced. The girls went down there and was about to enter..." Hell no guys, his there and we can't go" Ana and Gorgia kept looking at her to understand what she meant........
