Chapter 1 "you are already married! and you are here for another marriage registration don't you realize it's a crime to be a bigamist?" Laura Sinclair startled and confused left the courthouse with a just printed marriage certificate. The man who has gone with her for a marriage registration looked at her pretty face for a second before lamenting. "miss Sinclair you are already married so why did you hire me for a sham marriage?" "the deposit is nonrefundable so have a good day"he left hurriedly as he was talking. Laura bit her lower lip in frustration,still reeling from the shock. she has never had a boyfriend how could she possibly be married? she lowered her head to look at the printout in her hand one more time. in the certificate the girl in the photo seems to be a little bit shy with a forced smile that curved half way, although the mole at the corner of her eye proved that it was indeed her.As for the man... He has heavy features and a prominent nose,his thin lips curved into a faint smile and he stared into the camera lens intently as if they were piercing through the paper. Even in a black and white photo his mysterious and commanding presence was unable to be conceal. Then her eyes caught the name "Louis Horton". she was certain she has never meet this man so what on earth was going on. she deeped her hand in her bag and brought out her phone,took a snap of the certificate,opened w******p and sent it to a contact on w******p. "Help me figure out who this is" she got an instant reply "got it" only then did Laura set aside her confusion for a bit.she climb onto her old electric scooter and rode slowly into an upscale villa area returning back to the Sinclair family resident. Today was her older sister's big day her husband to be was coming over for the betrothal,Lisa Sinclair is the legitimate child of the Sinclair family and also the older sister of Laura. The house was beautifully decorated with workers bustling in an orderly manner,there were also temporary workers hired just for the occasion. As Laura arrived at the mansion she parked her electric scooter in one corner of the house only to hear the whispers of the workers as she passed by. "wow!,who is she?,she's so damn pretty!" one of the temporary workers asked. "shush, she's the family's illegitimate daughter that the boss doesn't acknowledge",one of the resident worker said. Laura kept her head lowered,pretending not to hear their gossip as she walked into the living room. Her mom Patricia hillstone was waiting at the door,the woman still looking dazzling even in her prime anxiously pulled her upstairs the moment she entered the house. "come with me to see your sister,by the way did you get your marriage certificate?" "yes",she answered emotionlessly. it was technically true even though the groom happens to be someone she has never seen. "That's good, you have to remember your place,drake Horton is from a high ups noble family and your sister's fiance, something an illegitimate child like you could never have,only your sister is worthy of him!". Hearing this words from her mother a touch of mockery flashed before her eyes. Drake Horton the legitimate grandson of the first branch of Oceania's preeminent Horton family pursued her for four years only to propose to her elder sister Lisa on graduation day. upon hearing about the proposal Patricia, her mom demanded her to immediately find someone else to marry extinguishing any potential between them. she wasn't surprised this time around, that's how it has always been,whenever there was even the slightest conflict of interest her mom would demand her to unconditionally give away because she was the illegitimate daughter and her mere exist is a sin. she was brainwashed by her mom as a child into believing that enduring all those hardship was a natural thing for an illegitimate child but now she was no longer oblivious. Today's event was to repay her for giving birth to her after that they were even. "I heard you",her mom replied her with a little bit of harsh and angry tone. In the middle of their conversation they arrived at Lisa's room,she looked like a princess in her dress,she was sitting in front of her dressing mirror selecting jewelry to wear, everything about Lisa was typical to one of those Disney princesses. Laura on the other hand dressed simple but still maintained a straight posture despite the contrast. Lisa greeted her upon seeing her "it's been a while,what brings you here sister". Before Laura could respond her mom Patricia interrupted "Lisa, Laura got married today" "so soon, who is the guy?,is he better than drake?",Lisa asked anxiously. "of course not,who could be better than drake Horton in the whole of Oceania, there isn't a single family with higher status than the Horton's,the loser she got married to didn't dare to come with her,I guess he figured his poverty-stricken apperance will offend your sight", Patricia said in a mocking tone. "How is that even possible? Laura is so pretty otherwise Drake wouldn't have pursued her for four years"Lisa said with hint of jealousy clouding her voice. "What's the use of being pretty?a shabby shoes goes with a ragged socks,given her status only the scum of society can be interested in her,young mr Horton saw her as a mere play thing.only you with your status is worthy of young mr Horton".... The apperance and aura of the man in the photo of the marriage certificate does not match the description of a ghetto husband her mother was busy talking about but she will not bother debunking the remarks,Laura frowned as she thought to herself. Right at that moment Lisa finished putting on her jewelry.she wanted to put on her heels but was unable to bend over because of the tight fittings of the dress, Lisa gave Laura a light smile. immediately her mom pushed her forward"your sister is having trouble wearing her shoe go and help her out,useless girl always so oblivious" Laura was speechless,it has always been like this, did her mom seriously think she is still the little naive girl who could not fight back even when bullied? "you can do it yourself",Laura said with cold eyes and a voice hinting a boiling anger. Laura what's this attitude,because you are now married you think you have grown wings, your husband is nothing but a hoodlum and a loser,you better make peace with your sister now at the end of the day you will still need the Sinclair family,if you don't make peace with your sister there will come a day you and your husband will come to her begging for help. Just as she was ranting a tall figure appeared at the door,it was their father Tyler Sinclair. "A distinguish guest is about to arrive and you all are here arguing"mr Sinclair said. Patricia played victim"it's because of this foolish girl she thinks because she got married today she can stand up to her mother" Tyler fixed his surprised gaze at her"you got married?,why didn't you allow us introduce someone decent for you?, where is the marriage certificate let me see" Faced with this sudden fatherly concern Laura hesitated for a moment before bringing it out of her bag however,the next second it was snatched by her mother."let me see what kind of loser you married",she said. Lisa asked curiously,"dad whose coming that got you so nervous?" Tyler immediately brightened up upon hearing the question ,he excitedly announced."it's Louis Horton" Laura was immediately taken aback. who?!
