“You can still be chosen even if you are wolfless. Because the Lycan king isn’t going to take in a thief either." The Lycan elder voices out.
And my step mum's jaw dropped. Her plans seem not to be working.
She was trapped in her own lies.
I stared at my dad and he looked heavily disappointed. He was sad that I wasn’t the one leaving. He was visibly shaken that his favourite daughter was about to be taken away. How cruel the world is.
My father and I had been bonding so well after my mum was taken away. Till Maddy and her mum showed up at our door and my father took them in, claiming she was her old time friend.
Everything I had with my dad was moved to Maddy. The love, attention and care became hers. She literally stole all I had including Ryan, someone I thought was never going to leave and was there to stay.
“Maddy can’t leave your majesty, she has been going through a series of attacks after the incident and she isn’t stable." My father spoke, breaking the long suffocating silence.
“Alpha Darius, you can’t go against the words of the Lycan.” He barked.
My step mum froze at that instance and bit down on her lips. She f*****g need to do something or else her little perfect daughter is gone. And just like you will think she did.
She cleared her throat before speaking.
" Maddy already found her mate. And the marriage ceremony was to be planned this evening before your arrival.”
Maddy stared at her mum in shock and so did others including myself.
She was way too smart. I glanced at my father and he even looked more puzzled. He clearly didn’t know his wife so well.
“Send in her mate.” The Lycan elder ordered.
She bowed and left and returned with a young man trailing behind her.
Who the hell did she trap into her deceit?
“Ryan” I exclaimed in shock. “What are you doing here?”
“Your majesty, here is Maddy's mate and next Alpha of Moonblood pack” she smiled and moved to take her seat next to mine.
The Lycan elder accessed Ryan for a while and turned to Maddy.
“Is he your mate?"
“Y…..yes your majesty. Ryan and I found out we were mates before the full moon festival where I took the shrubs.” She smiled.
No no I screamed inwardly. These people won't get to decide for me.
"Ryan is my….."
“Ryan is your boyfriend Zeph. We know that and that is why we don’t want to hurt you.” Maddy explained, cutting me off.
" I’m sorry for not telling you earlier. We found out we were mates during the festival days ago. We didn't want to tell you yet till you recovered from the injury you got yourself by stealing” she explained with every bit of concern.
I chuckled dryly. What exactly was happening here? I wasn’t at the festival but for every damn reason I know Ryan and Maddy aren't mates in any way.
When Maddy was twenty and I was twenty one, she found out her mate was a low rank Omega, she took him to the woods and dug her claws on him ripping him apart. Cursing the moon goddess for mating her with an Omega.
And here she is, trying to take advantage of my absence at the festival.
“What about the Ome….”
" You weren’t at the festival Zephyr, remember. I and Ryan are mates.”
She hissed.
I exhalled deeply and sat down back on my chair. Ryan f*****g cheated on me with her. So why would I even want to say he is mine. Whatever was concluded at the end of this gathering I cared less.
Leaving this damn pack was a good opportunity anyways.
The Lycan elder accessed Maddy carefully. Trailing his eyes from her hair down to her neck.
“The mark? He hasn't marked you yet?”
“Not yet your majesty. Maddy just lost her wolf, marking her now would cause her a lot of harm.” Ryan finally spoke.
What? How come he knew Maddy had lied? I glanced at my step mum and she was smiling to herself.
I wasn’t even surprised anymore. Whatever that was going on didn’t look new. I lost trust in Ryan when I saw him on her bed, screaming her name and cursing mine in the process.
The Lycan elder nodded.
Only if he knew he had been fooled.
He stretched his hands towards a tall man standing behind him.
And he pulled out a big brown envelope and gave it to the Lycan elder who passed it on till it got to my father.
He opened it and pulled out a neat stack of white papers.
My father glanced through the paper and his gaze returned to the Lycan elder.
“Sign those papers." He said and pulled out a pen from his bucket and gave it to my father.
“Those papers indicate that your daughter Zephyr has been sold to our pack. And has no business with the Moonblood pack anymore even now and the future.”
And your pack in return will be offered everything stated on those papers.
My step mum squealed in her seat, grinning from ear to ear. She was happy about the way things were turning out. Finally I would be out of her way and her daughter will become the Luna something she has always fought for.
I watched my father open the pen and without much hesitation, signed the papers. It then dawned on me I had no one. My mum sacrificed her own life for the future of her pack. But what did she get in return? A betrayal as a husband.
I watched the Lycan elder seal the papers and placed them back in the envelope.
And I know my fate has been sealed just like the papers.
“We will return tomorrow to take her with us.”
He finalised and rose from his seat, taking the lead as we all stepped out.
My fate was sealed. I was going to become a w***e or probably locked up in the dungeon till when?
