The Lost Mate

Chapter 8: Pain

-Third Person Point Of View-

Iris would be sitting in the infirmary getting her arm bandage up from her training session. It was break time to have lunch. She hasn't seen Soul at all and she was getting worried. After break was over she went back to training as one of the higher warriors was given orders from James on what they need to be training for. The fact that Iris heard they will probably going to war had her in shock. Instead of continuing the training she ran to his office knocking on the door. James had opened up the door and saw that it was Iris, he looked back at Soul waiting to see if it was okay to let her in. Soul nodded. Iris walked into the office.

"I just heard that we need to start training for war." Soul looked at and gulped standing up. "Yes because we are going to save your sisters. I have already contacted the Alpha of Venus's mate and he agreed to join us. James is going to contact the Beta of Mercury's mate who is the Alpha of his pack that is being held captive by Jones." Iris looked at him her body heat started to rise. Soul gripped the desk. "I don't want you training anymore,because once we go on the Red Mind Pack's territory I don't want you to be with the warriors since they will want you." Iris growled softly at Soul, "I need to keep training, because what if you and the warriors are at the Red Mind Pack's territory and Damien comes for me. I need to be ready, I trained with him and so I can take him, but if I stop training I will have a disadvantage." Soul narrowed his eyebrows and growled at his mate. "I said you will stop training and that is Alpha's orders." Iris growled back at him walking up. "I am the Luna and that means I can disobey the Alpha's orders, so I will continue training." Soul was starting to get pissed that his mate is disobeying him. He growled and stood tall over Iris. "No and that is final, now go to your room." He barked at her, ordering a guard to take her back and watch her. She growls and storms off before the guard could get to her, she ran off to her room slamming the doors shut. 

Soul would sigh and sit in his chair as James came up to him. "I agree with our Luna, if we are on the front lines. Damien was our toughest warrior. I think she should train still to be prepared just incase." Soul growled looking at his Beta who bowed his head and stepped back. "I will not have my Beta disobey me either. Get Mike and his mate Tracy here." James would nod as he left the office closing the doors leaving Soul alone in the room running to get Mike and Tracy who are high rank warriors as well as mates. Soul knows he can trust them and he wouldn't have to worry about Mike getting attracted to Iris since Tracy is his mate.  

A few hours go by and James came back to Soul's office with Mike and Tracy. Soul stood up to greet them then they all sat down. "Is there something you need us for Alpha?" Asked Mike he was a little older than Soul,his tan musclur skin was covered in scars from years of fighting for his Alpha and the pack. He had his light brown hair military buzz cut style, his eyes a dark green. Next to him was his mate Tracy, she had a lighter skin tone from her mate, smaller than Soul but bigger than Iris. She had her dirty blond hair cut short to her shoulders and pulled back into a small ponytail her light green eyes looking at her Alpha. Soul sighed leaning back in his chair. 

"As you know I informed the pack and warriors that we will be going to war with the Red Mind Pack. Iris's sisters and their mate are indanger as well as Iris herself. I do not want her to keep training but my Beta had informed me that Damien is behind the rouges and is working with our enemy and that he is after Iris. She is our Luna and I want you two to be her personal trainers and bodyguards. When we are at war I want you two to protect her.I will not go into detail of all the information right now, I chose you two because you are mates and I can trust you." Mike and Tracy looked at each other and nod in agreement that they will take the job and protect their Luna. 

-Iris's Point Of View-

I can't believe him. The fact that he won't let me train anymore. Like I need to train to protect myself. The fact that he is declaring war on the Red Mind Pack. I don't know how I really feel about this. Sitting on the couch after taking a cold shower to cool myself off after my body heat getting too hot for me to control myself and my wolf. Then there was a knock on the door. Turning to look at the door I get up to go open it but the person already let their self in. It was James. James bowed his head at me as he walked in with two warriors behind him. It was Mike and Tracy they were high ranking warriors I wonder what they are doing here. 

"The Alpha told Mike and Tracy that they will be your person bodyguards and trainers. He had agreed that you do still need to train just incase the worst would happen and Damien would get to you." James moved to the side as Mike and Tracy would bow their heads at me as I was their Luna. I'm still not use to being treated this way since my whole life was completely different. I looked over at James. 

"Do you know what the first step is?" James shook his head. "The Alpha is sending a messenger to the Red Mind Pack Alpha to declare war as well sending one to the Blue Moon Pack which is Venus's mates pack and the Full Moon Pack Beta which is Mercury's mates. They will be coming here in the next week to start setting plans. The Alpha does not want you anywhere need the office, he does not want you leaving the mansion at all. If you are not training you are to be in your room." I was shocked from what James is telling me.The orders my mate is giving me was ridiculous. I wanted to protest. I felt my freedom being taken away from me. And why did he say my room.

"James what do you mean my room. Will I be able to see Soul at all?" James shook his head, my heart sank, my wolf growled in protest.He is now going to be keeping himself away from me while also keeping me prisoner. I growled in protest and went to storm out of the room until Tracy and Mike grabbed me. 

"Let me go I am your Luna I demand to see the Alpha!" James stood in front of me shaking his head. "I'm sorry Luna but I can not allow that it is for your safety and for him to focus on this upcoming war." I stopped fighting and looked at the ground tears forming in my eyes. Mike let go of me as Tracy held me. I talked to her a few times and she is a nice female, with her holding me it felt like one of my sisters were. I leaned against her silently crying as James would leave us in my room closing the door. My heart is throbbing with saddness. 

-Soul's Point Of View-

This will be the first night I won't be with Iris. My wolf howled and growled at me knowing that we can feel our mate in heat. I didn't want to take the risk. Looking outside my window that shows me the forest as the moon would rise over the trees I had a glass of whiskey in my hand. How long will my mate and I last being separated. She will be in heat every month for almost a whole week until she is pregnant. I know since we are marked that I shouldn't worry about other males wanting to go after her, but a small part of me feel that rouges will scene her in heat and urge them to come into my territory to get her. Growling at the thought I broke the glass in my hand.Ordering a maid to clean up the mess I decided to stay in my office to for the night starting to plan things out. I had told James he could go get some rest since once the Beta of the Full Moon Pack and the alpha of the Blue Moon Pack arrive there will be no resting. A few hours go by and I still can't get some rest, wondering about my mate. I go to see where Mike and Tracy are and saw that they were standing in front of Iris's bedroom doors taking shifts. Tracy as asleep leaning against the wall standing up while Mike stood watch. I was proud how they take their job seriously that is why I know I can trust them. I mind link with Mike.

"How is Iris doing?" Mike would look at me slightly, "she was heart broke, but is asleep right now. When Tracy wakes up she is going to look inside the room to make sure the Luna is safe and still in her room while I continue to stay out here. Once it is my turn to rest Tracy will stand out here with me and keep watch." I nod my head sighing. "Thank you for keeping our Luna safe, it hurts me to keep away from her but its the only way." "Alpha I don't mean to pry on any questions, but when Tracy and I had our first mating season and training to be warriors that didn't stop us from keeping our relationship strong. She even had our first pup who is now at junior training. I know you have your reasons, but with her in heat one of the warriors that is at the border told me that he can even sense it. I'm not telling you what to do Alpha I am just letting you know." "And I appreciate that Mike thank you for telling me. I was worried with her being in heat this bad that the rouges will know and come after her. But I can't take the risk of her getting pregnant. Not right now." Mike didn't say anything he just nod at me.

I looked at the doors that stood between my mate and I. I could feel her body heat and smell from here my wolf drooling for her. I coughed and turned to walk away. I need to cool off. I can not take the chance no matter how badly.
