Chapter 8 - Jealous

2216 Words
The head news for Stallion was the dating rumor between me and the SC president. Dwight could not care less, and still come to class, sit beside me like nothing is going on. It just proves that he feels nothing towards me. My parents heard about the news, but they believed right away when I told them that it was another false rumor about me. I wish that was true though. Ash and Emerald were not supportive as well. They told me to kill all my hope that Dwight and I have a chance. I was too busy in the next days preparing for the up coming competition that I didn't have time to read comments. For sure, a lot of girls hate me now. One week before the competition, I was pulled out from all my classes, so I can focus on my training. I still attend when I know that there will be a quiz. Gladly, I was able to understand the lesson even it's self thought. We were able to deliver the presentation about the case study well. Dwight was always not present as well because he's assisting the representatives of polo. When Friday came, all the athletes were gathered in the sports hall ground floor for the meeting. I saw familiar faces, and I could not stop feeling nostalgia. Most of the students in the place were seniors. Times flies so fast. I still can't believe we are down to our last playing year. I was sitting beside Ash and Emerald. A group of guys sat beside us in the bleachers, but we didn't budge. Ash was busy with his phone while Emerald was ranting about the pain at her back. She's been enduring that for days, but couldn't tell her coach thinking she might get pulled out of the game if that turns out to be serious. "Hi, Yasmin!" I turned to the person who called me. Behind us are the football players wearing white shirts and shorts. The guy who called me was my classmate in high school, but I can't remember his name. "Hello. Good luck on your game!" I hope I didn't sound awkward. "Good luck to you as well. Maybe we can have dinner together in Davao while we're there." I bite my lower lip. I still can't remember his name. Emerald also turned around to look at the guy. "Oh hi, Lee! It's been a while." Thank goodness she mentioned his name. "Hello, Emerald. Wow so you still bond together." "Yeah. We've decided to be each other's pain in the ass for life." They talked for a while before he approached me again. "So dinner is okay?" He asked with a big smile. Before I could answer, a group of guys took the bleachers behind the football team. They were noisy and cocky. It's the Polo Team of Stallion. They are treated special, and the administration does not even deny that. My jaw dropped when I saw Dwight talking with the ace. They seemed to be talking about something funny because he's all smiles. "Oh my gosh! Jace is here!" I heard Emerald giggling when she told Ash. Dwight didn't see me. Maybe he saw me and just decided not to mind me. "Okay sure! Let's have dinner together, Lee. We can go with our friends, so it will be more fun." I answered with a loud noise. Damn me for being thirsty of Dwight's attention. My voice was loud enough to be heard where they sat. He looked at my way, but it was only for a while. All these guys surrounding me now, and I want Dwight's attention alone. "S-sure. But they have different schedule, so I think it will be hard. We can just go with ourselves, don't you think?" I agreed to him just to cut the conversation. I don't want to see Dwight's face having so much fun talking to other people and he can't even smile at me. While waiting for the meeting to start, I focus on my phone. My hair is covering my face and I put my headphones on. He's so good at putting me in a bad mood. When Ash removed my headphones, I faced him with frowned forehead. "What?!" I asked. "Do you want water? Emerald and I are heading out for a while to buy snacks." His face was serious. "No thanks." I answered. "Okay. Stop frowning, okay? You're uglier when you do that." I gave him a fake smile and he sighed. "Now you're ugliest." Before I could hit him, he already stood. The seats beside me are not vacant. I heard my teammates talking about the places they will visit in Davao. Coach and his assistants were talking about our opponents. They are discussing about statistic that we can't understand when someone took a sit in Ash's place. "Nice to see you again." My heart rushed when I saw Dwane. They totally looked alike that my heart was confused for a second. I thought it was Dwight. "Hi, Dwane. What are you doing here?" According to Emerald, he doesn't play any sport. He's a happy-go-lucky person. Not totally a black sheep of the family, but he's the total opposite of Dwight when it comes to character. He's a womanizer and into arts while Dwight never had a girlfriend before and prefers business. "I was here for my friends then I saw you with your friends. Where did they go?" "Just buying something." I looked around and noticed that there are also many students who are not athletes but only supporters. This is the last day that we will be in the school before we fly to Davao for the competition. "I heard the news about you and Dwight. Are you really going out?" His question was sarcastic. "You live in the same house. You should have asked him." He laughed sarcastically. My teammates gave us a peculiar look. It somehow made my face flush. I am sincerely hoping that Dwight couldn't see us now. He'll think I'm flirting with his brother. "He knows that I like you, Yasmin. But he's doing this to me. See how badass my twin brother is?" He was very casual now. This is the second time we're talking to each other in person, but he seems so comfortable. "It was a fake news," I answered in a low tone. The stare he gave me said he could not believe. "I don't know who's lying between the two of you and who likes who." He answered with the same voice. With the noise around us, for sure that no one else can hear us. "I think you're not that close. I have a one sided crush on him. That's all. He's not a bit interested in me." "You must be kidding me." He looked up to the bleachers where the polo team was sitting. I remained staring at him. "Yup. Your brother is the biggest asshole I've met. He doesn't even want to give me a chance." That's a hard pill to swallow. "But he's looking at us like he would send me to hell anytime soon if I keep on talking to you. He's obviously jealous." "Stop joking, Dwane." "Why don't you check it yourself? I really find you pretty, Yasmin, but my brother's girl is a dangerous one. If you need my help to tame him, just give me a call." He winked at me before he stood. I thought he would walk away already, but he faced me again. "Good luck on your game, Yasmin." Some of the girls in my team made a loud noise when Dwane smiled at them. I can't move long after he's gone. I wanted to check Dwight's reaction, but I'm scared to be disappointed and I also don't want to see Lee. If my friends were here, the situation won't be this awkward. Five minutes before the meeting started when my friends returned. Ash handed me a bottled water. Coach asked me to sit with him in the middle of the meeting to discuss about the schedule of the games. We'll be free on Monday because we only need to attend the opening ceremony, but our first game will be on Tuesday. I hope we reach the championship which will be held on Friday morning before the closing ceremony. It was a long week. My friends and team wanted to have dinner together, but they know that my Friday is reserved for mom and dad. Ash and Emerald told me that they'll be in the house tomorrow to watch movies and chill. My team waved goodbye to me when I told them that I'll be going ahead. Dad is on the way to pick me up. I was sitting in the waiting bench of the loading bay in the parking lot when someone spoke from behind. "And who's gonna pick you up tonight? Who among your men?" My heart was dramatic that it stopped when I saw Dwight standing behind me. I couldn't see him clearly a while ago, but now I appreciate what he's wearing. He's wearing shorts and white polo shirt. He looked like a rich heir that he is. "W-what do you mean?" I asked. He looked around as if observing is there are people nearby us. He walked near me, and stand right in front. I had to lift my chin and looked up to him. My eyes are traitor as they go down to check his arms where his veins are showing. His physique is way too perfect. "You got too many boys, Yasmin. I'm confused who are you really dating. You just added my brother in the list, didn't you?" "On what ground are you speaking? I don't have many boys in my life, Dwight. Aside from my father and cousins..." "Don't be a liar and hypocrite to me, Yasmin. You tried to seduce me before too, but you didn't succeed that's why you're after my brother now. You have a guy from soccer team and I can't believe you got your coach too." I stood, so I won't have a hard time looking up. But because he's tall and big, I have to move to his side to give distance between us and I won't have to look up to him. "Save your insult, Dwight. Your dirty mind won't understand the platonic relationship I have with many people. I am not expecting you to understand because you have always looked down to me since then. Stop giving comments about me if you're not going to date me." I bite my lower lip in the last sentence. I wish dad would arrive now, so I can at least save myself from embarrassment. His lips pursed and his forehead furrowed. The look in his eyes became darker. "Can you handle me, Yasmin?" He asked with his jaw clenching. I am honest with myself when I answered in my head 'no'. I think I'm not prepared for a Dwight Jace Bentley, but my heart wants him. "What about you, Dwight? Can you tame me? Or are you too afraid to try? Or are you not interested at all? Please give me a clear answer now. I'm mentally and physically tired from the training, so if you reject me now, I guarantee you that I will never go after you again. I can just date any other guy that I want. You're not a lost." I can't hear myself in the last sentence because of the way he looked. All my courage faded when he took the steps between us. "You have no idea about the things I can do for you, Yasmin." His husky voice sent shiver to my spine. It was like a warning. "It's still an unclear answer. Does that mean I should stop?" "I'm going to Davao to watch over you. And yes I don't accept your concept of platonic relationship with other boys not for any other reason but because I'm selfish. You can stop seducing me now, Yasmin. I'll start pursuing you my way." I was totally caught off guard. His lips went near my right ear. "So tell me which asshole is picking you up tonight." I felt like I would have a heart attack anytime. "It's dad." "Good. I'll see you on Monday then." He put his hand on his pocket as he sat in the bench where I was sitting. It took me a while to get over what he said a while ago. "Aren't you going home?" "I'll wait until your dad arrives. Just to make sure." I hide my smile. He's a psychopath. The lamp posts around the parking lot made the place appear so romantic. There are few people walking around. Dwight would sneak glances at me from time to time. He's oozing with confidence that he doesn't mind being caught. I wasn't able to start a conversation after the last thing he said. When dad arrived, he looked at Dwight. I wanted to introduce them to each other but I don't think it's the right time for that. Dwight didn't say anything when I entered the car. I couldn't stop smiling while we were in the car. Dad was too busy to notice.
