CHAPTER 10: Stranger's Hand

Since Selene and SPO3 Dela Cruz had a conversation, awkwardness is really lessen.

Selene can already stay around him or see him somewhere.

While days passed faster than it seems be, twins didn't notice that they are already working at the eatery more than just a month.

This eatery never get lower than a hundred customers a day. That's why it is so busy. And because of that the twin has to go home alone. The other one stays at the eatery to clean and the other one goes home.

One cold night, when Serene was heading home, she felt something creepy. She feels like someone is watching over hear. She looked around and found out that there is no one in there.

As she continue to walk, the presence felt nearer. She tries to walk faster but the presence behind her seem to do the same.

Out of dear, Serene run as faster as she could. And presence still behind her. Serene saw on her peripheral vision that there is someone who is chasing her. She is almost crying and the street where is she heading is getting darker than dark.

Serene is already crying and shaking. And it was doubled when she saw that she's on the dead end.

"What do you want from me? I got no money of expensive things. Please just let me go." Serene said as she look to the person who is running after her.

"I want you. You fit to be with us." The man with a face mask said.

"I don't know you and I don't want fo get any touching with you." Serene fired backed.

"Well, you don't have any say on this. I will take you when you are alone." He said with some laugh.

Serene get her pepper spray on her I back pack but suddenly, the man grab her wrist forcefully.

"You are going with me."

"No! Somebody, please help me." Serene shouted

The man laughed and scratch his head.

"No one will hear you here.", The guy said.

When he is about to step near to her, someone grabbed him from his back. Another man appeared but this time e is wearing an hoodie.

Because he put some force, Serene was almost got drag too.

Fear was lessen because of that guy. But she somewhat relieved that someone save her.

The bad guy ran away and the man offer his hand to her to help her get up of the ground.

As she extend her hand, the man grabbed it. Serene was kinda shocked to feel a very warm palm. It feels like it was sort of heated.

"Thank you, sir." She said.

"Next time be careful because you don't know when will you be a prey to anyone., Goodbye." The man said and walked away.

Fear crept on Serene's body. It's like the man gave her a warning. But she buried it on the back of her head and tried to compose herself. She walked toward the direction of terminal so she can go home. 

When she went home, Selene was worried about her. She comes home 30 minutes late.

Serene hugged her twin so tight and began to cry. She was so afraid earlier.

"What happened?" Selene asked her.

"Someone chased me. He wants me to come with him. I was so afraid. I thought I will be harmed but there is a man who saved me. He offered a hand even we're strangers to each other." Serene replied.

"Oh my God! From now on, we will not go home alone. We will just wait for each other. I can't afford to lose nor to let you be harmed. I don't want to put you on that same danger, understood?" Selene said firmly and hugged Serene again.

"The man told me to be careful because I will not know when will I be a prey to anyone. You know what Selene, I felt somewhat warmth on his hand. I wasn't able to get his name or even see his ful face. But I felt comforted when I grabbed his hand." Serene said a matter of fact.

"Serene, never trust people around us so easily. You are not sure who is our enemy or not so be careful." Selene said.

"Noted. I want to rest now, Selene. I will wash myself now." Serene said and headed to the bathroom.

Selene on the other hand is so worried for her twin. Who is the guy who chased her? And who is the man who helped her? And lastly, what does he mean on his warning?

Selene suddenly think about the crimes around the place. And it somewhat scare her. But she have to trust herself and her twin. 

She washed out those thoughts away. She doesn't want to get paranoid about things. That's why she closed her eyes then opened it after few seconds regaining confidence.
