CHAPTER 15: Keeping a Secret

When the twins got home, they were still on shock. They still couldn't believe that they just saw the killer. It is not just an ordinary meet up.
The threat that they have just received continuously roaming around their heads. Giving them chills and creeping them out.
What made them confused even more is the fact that they we're not killed or even had any scratch. Are they really safe if they will not utter even just a single word. How can they trust a murderer? Will he ever do what he says?
Selene doubled check the doors and the windows if they are locked. Then they both sat on their small couch.
"Serene, what do you mean by that earlier? Did you felt his presence this past few days too? Dod you ever caught him following us around?" Selene asked.
"Calm down. Are you in hurry?" Serene replied.
"Just answer me already, Serene." Selene said with her infamous blank expression.
"Take it easy. Yes I do feel that I felt his presence on those places we've been to. I do caught him once. He hid at the back of the tree. The first time I felt his presence, I thought it was a random person but as the day passed by, I realize that it's not. But I don't know how to tell you about this." Serene said.
"I felt him too. But I don't know how to tell you this too. I don't want to make you worry. And also, there are times that he is not around. So I thought he stopped following us around." Selene replied. "Can we just not hide any secrets from each other beginning today, we talked about this before and w both failed and broke our promise." She added.
"Alright. Let's not fight over it anymore, shall we? I'm sorry if I hid it too." Serene said with her puppy eyes.
"You think those puppy eyes of yours will work on me? Well, yes. I'm sorry too."
Serene cheered and hugged Selene so tight then she hugged Serene back.
"But seriously, what will we do if ever he comes back? What if he will still kill us? Should we hide? Should we run away from here again?" Serene asked turning into a serious face.
"No, we can't always hide and run away from place to place. Let's just forget about what we saw. That will make us alive. From now on, let's not open the topic about those." Selene said while looking at her twin.
"I'm still afraid but after that encounter with that man and after hearing his deal, I am somewhat calm. I have a strong hope that he will do what he says."
After their small talk, the twin wash themselves and ready to go to bed.
"Good night, Serene." Selene said as she kiss her twin's forehead.
"Good night too, Selene." Serene replied with a beautiful smile on her lips.
The next morning, they prepare early so that they will arrive early at their work too. They are a bit suspicious about their surrounding but there is no one who is following them.
"Do you think he is gone already? I don't feel any strange presence The first time I felt his presence, I thought it was a random person but as the day passesd by, I realize that it's not. But I don't know how to tell you about this." Serene said.
"I felt him too. But I don't know how to tell you this too. I don't want to make you worry. And also, there are times that he is not around. So I thought he stopped following us around." Selene replied. "Can we just not hide any secrets from each other beginning today, we talked about this before and w both failed and broke our promise." She added.anymore." Serene said.
"We've talked about it already. I told you, right? We will no longer talk about this again. It is way too risky, Serene." Selene said as a matter of fact.
"Sorry, I forgot. This will not happen again."
"Alright. Walk faster, I don't want to be late." Selene replied.
As they continue their walk to the terminal, They couldn't stop but to look around them.
When they both reached the terminal, they saw SPO3 Delan Cruz approaching them.
"Good morning ladies."
"Good morning, Sir." Serene is the only one who answered.
"Are you both fine? I saw you both running last night. Is there any problem I can help you with? It will be my pleasure to help."
"No, actually we are totally fine." Selene said like she wants to end the discussion already.
"You seem like you're running after something last night, I just couldn't help you last night because I'm on my investigations." Dela Cruz said.
"We're totally fine, Sir. So if you will excuse us we will be heading to our works already." Selene said.
Dela Cruz is still curios and suspicious that something was happening but the twins can't be force to say something.
They know what will it cost them to speak even just a single word and they didn't want that to happen. They have to keep it a secret.
"Alright. But if you will need some help, please don't hesitate to come to me." Dela Cruz said.
"Thank you, Sir." Serene said.
"Take care." Dela Cruz said.
The twins continued their walk and soon went inside the jeepney.
No matter how much they want to say the problem to him, they just can't. It will kill them. Saying something means sacrificing their lives and that is not what they are planning to do.
They have to keep it secret. And they will bury it on their heads. They will not say anything not because they don't want to but because it will make them safe and alive.
Selfishness it is but they have to be quiet for their own sake. They have to be alive for each other.
