CHAPTER 12: Are We Getting Chased?

The long and tiring day for the twin has ended. Coming home is their favorite part of the day. Because finally, they can have a decent shower and lay their back on their bed.

Seems to be so simple yet it means a lot to them. They are having a very tiring day that's why when they heard 'coming home', it feels so lovely just like a sweet melody to their ears.

After finishing all of their task, the twin held hands as they walk down the dark alley that makes coming to the terminal easier.

They are having a chit chat while continuously walking. They are laughing about their childhood mistakes and a lot of other memories.

The bright atmosphere ruined by a weird noise around them. The twin stopped for some moment but when their eyes met, it seems like they talked with their eyes and run together without letting go of each other's hand.

They suddenly remember the crime they have witnessed. Those noises made them think that they are being chased by the criminal.

Because they are panicking, they made a turn to another alley which will lead them to other place instead in the terminal. No one is talking but they are already getting tired of running.

Fear and over thinking is roaming around their heads but there is only one thing that they want to do, to survive and not get caught.

The more they run farther, the alley is becoming darker and darker, moonlight is their only source of light, but it's not enough to clearly see things around them. So what left them to do is to continue running.

When they reaches the end of the alley, they turned left, and at last they saw a place where there are other people. They are both panting and catching their breaths.

When they stopped to have some rest, a hand suddenly tapped Selene's shoulder. And because of that, they screamed and faced the person who owns that hand.

It was SPO3 Dela Cruz who tapped Selene's shoulder. Because of that, some people around them looked at them with questioning look.

"Sorry, I don't intend to scare the both of you." Dela Cruz said as he raise his hands as sign of surrendering.

"S-SPO3. It's you. Thank goodness!" Serene said who's still panting.

"Yes it's me. I just got out of the shop few meters away from here when I saw you both running out of nowhere. So I decided to go follow you. You both seem to be terrified." He answered as a matter of fact.

"W-we are. Nah, never mind. It's nothing." Selene said almost spilled the truth.

Selene is stuck between telling him the truth so they could ask help and protection or keeping it as secret so there will be no reason for the criminals to go after them.

It might be selfish because they could help the victim with what they saw but if its just the only way to protect the both of them, she would rather keep it hidden.

"Are you sure? Don't you need any help?" Dela Cruz asked with concern.

"No, Sir. We are definitely fine. No need to worry about us." Selene said. "By the way, This is my twin sister, Serene. Serene, this is SPO3 Dela Cruz." She added.

SPO3 Dela Cruz was not convinced at all but he couldn't just interfere especially if it is a matter between the two of them. He is not related to them after all. He has to respect their privacy. He couldn't do anything but to wait if they will come to him and tell things that terrifies them.

"Nice to meet you." Dela Cruz said while offering her a handshake.

"Nice to meet you too, sir." Serene said and smiled.

"I just wanna ask you, Sir. Do you somehow know how can we go in the terminal of jeepneys without going to that alley again?" Selene asked and pointed the alley where they came from.

Dela Cruz tell them the way and the twin easily got it. After a minute or two, they bid their goodbyes and thank Dela Cruz for the direction.

"Take care." He simply said.

Because of what happened, the twin headed to their apartment, almost running. Fear is absolutely obvious to them.

As they reached their apartment, they sat on their chair in their kitchen. They cannot even go straight to taking a shower.

"Selene, are we getting chased already?" Serene asked with so much fear in her voice.

"I don't know too, Serene. What if we're just too paranoid because of what we witnessed? What if that person is just walking around that area too?" Selene said.

Indeed it was true, it's just either they are being chased for real or they are just over thinking. Maybe they were just too afraid to experience the same fate of the victims. But nonetheless, they have to be careful and they have to be alert because anytime, they might encounter that bad guy for real.

"Selene, what we're gonna do is there is someone who is really chasing us? What is they are just waiting for us to tell anyone about that crime so they could kill us?" Serene said.

"I honestly don't know too, Serene. I am afraid too. I am afraid that we could be in any danger any time. But If we will worry about us being caught, if we will live by fear, how can we possibly live our life to the fullest. I am no stone. I have feelings too and that includes being afraid for our safety. But I want to live a normal life too. And we will never achieve that if we will be like this." Selene replied.

"But what can we do, we are on this already? We have to face this Selene. It's just either we keep our mouths shut or tell about this to people who's in charge of people's protection." Serene stated.

"We couldn't tell this to anyone. Let's just wait for this to be over. It is way too much risky to utter even just a single word about this." Selene said.

Serene still want to say something but chose to stay quiet just to let the argument finish. She still respects her twin's decision. She respects her like an older sister.

On the other side of the frame, there is SPO3 Dela Cruz who is still curious about the action of the twins. They seem to be so terrified earlier. And if you will see the way how they run, they looks like being chased by someone. Especially when he tapped Selene's shoulder, they are so afraid to the point it made them scream.

If they are really being chased, the question is, by whom and because of what? Those kids doesn't look someone who will do bad things so for sure they are not being chased because they did something wrong to others.

Whatever the reason is, He is just hoping that it will not caused the twin to be in danger.

If they are being chased, Dela Cruz wants to know, because it they really are, he will be running after that person too. He wants to chase the person who are chasing the twins.
