Broken Serenade

CHAPTER 19: A Voice

The twin got up from their bed with a smile on their faces.

What a great sleep they had. It is Sunday, so they have no duties in the eatery today. Sadly, they woke up a bit late that'c s why going to an actual church will just cause them to be very late and might not be able to hear the whole passage and the message.

"Good morning, Serene." Selene greeted.

"Good morning too, Selene." Serene greeted back.

"Let's just watch the mass on the television. We will be late if we will go now. What do you think?" Selene asked.

"Yeah, I agree. And I heard there will be a light to heavy rain later. The chapel near here is temporary closed." Serene replied as she caress her chin.

It was already 8 o'clock of Sunday morning when they decided to just watch the sunday mass in front of their 20 inches television that seem to give up any minute. There is no much figure you can see on it. What lefts clear is the sound of the people talking inside the television.

As soon hey have finished the mass, they took a bath and went to their kitchen to eat.

Their simple meal was accompanied by talks and laughter.

"When we are in Grade school, I used to act tough so that my classmates will not give me hard time." Serene said.

"That's so epic. You act so tough in front of thee people while you act like a baby in front of me even before." Selene said.

"Why not? I am your baby after all, right?" Serene asked as she puppy eyed.

"Hahaha. Of course. You are my only baby." Selene said and pinch Serene's nose.

After finishing their meals, Serene do the dishes while Selene went to their room.

When Serene was done with the dishes, she followed her twin in their room.

Selene was there flipping the Photo album again. Reminiscing those memories that brought them to tears out of happiness but now, it seems like it brings them into tears out of longing.

Longing for the love of their Father, longing for a happy but simple life back on their province which happens to be their hometown.

"I miss having hard time collecting the fruits of our crops. I miss the fresh air we can inhale from the farm and maybe that smelly smell of the poultry nearby. I miss thew things. Serene." Selene said while looking at Serene who is caressing every photo in the photobook.

"I also do but no worries, when everything is fine, we will visit there. We will go Mommy and Dada in there." Serene said and continues to flip the pages.

After few months, she saw again the picture of their mom who is wearing an elegant gown and a complete heirloom set. The earrings and the ring wasn't passed to the twins. And they thought about it last time, that maybe it was still on their mom when she died or she brought it with her intentionally.

[Selena Ignacio Bellaroza is a very elegant looking and very graceful, because she was born with a silver spoon. She was the first born of Mr. And Mrs. Eugenio Bellaroza and followed by 2 younger siblings.

But she was rejected by her father when he find out that she was pregnant on her 2nd year on College and she has no husband. Mr. Eugenio Bellaroza prioritized their dignity before the sake of his daughter.

Bellaroza family lives somewhere in Mindanao but unfortunately, they never met the twin and it goes the same to the twin. So no one can say if there still Bellaroza who is alive.]

Serene was stop by what she suddenly hear.

"Three will soon arise, two of them will surely dies."

"Huh? What is it?" Serene asked to Selene while looking so confused.

"What?" Selene asked too who became confused too.

"Weird. I thought you just said something. Maybe I am listening too much of radio series that's why." Serene said while shaking her head.

"Why, did you hear something?" Selene asked with creased forehead.

"Did you hear it too?" Serene asked.

"Yes. Very loud and clear." Selene said while hiding the grin on her face.

"What is it?"

"My... My... My stomach is growling. It seems to upset. Hahahaha. What's with that serious face?" Selene asked while holding her tummy that's hurting because of laughing too much.

"Whatever, Lilly." Serene said and rolled her eyes to Selene.

"Your reaction is priceless. I hope you can see it yourself." Selene said to tease Serene even more.

Serene got up and went to the kitchen to drink some water.

She's doubtful that she was just imagining things, for her it was a really voice saying those things to her.

But she doesn't want to believe on something that has no proof she just shrugged her shoulders and forget that message.
