CHAPTER 18: A Talk to Fix

The whole day became boring for Selene. Her twin was not as responsive as she normally do. And she's not even silliy around Selene when lunch time came.

She wants to fix the feud between her and Serene but she couldn't even bother Serene

She was busy organizing the stuffs for kitchen. Or maybe it was just her excuse so that she can avoid Selene.

Even when they are on their way home, no one dared to talk. They are juat silent the whole ride.

Selene was taking glances to Serene almost every minute but Serene didn't do the same.

It pains Selene. She doesn't want to be in this kind of situation with her twin. She can't help but to be paranoid. Her mind is being clouded by the thoughts like she will not be able to soften Serene again.

When they finished their work, they came out of their work place together but Serene was still distant. She neither talked nor looked at Selene.

Even when they rode the jeep, Serene just ay for her transportation fare. Which happened just now.

Selene thought that she really upset Serene. That's why she decided to cook their favorite viand which is Chicken Adobo.

[Adobo is a savory dish in the Philippines which is cooked with soy sauce and Chicken or pork can be the meat. It can have potatoes or pineapple bits. In addition, it can be either sweet or spicy.]

When they got home, Selene went to a small store near their apartment to buy the ingredients that she will be needed.

After few minutes, she went back to their apartment. Selene went to the kitchen. And starting to prepare the stuffs she will be needed.

In the other hand, Serene was taking a bath and also thinking about her twin. She wants to talk to her already yet, her pride was keeping her not to do it.

When she smelled the aroma of the dish that Selene is cooking, her stomach crumbled. She's already hungry.

"Serene, come here. Dinner is ready. You can go and eat first. I'll gonna eat later." Selene said with upset tone.

Dinner is the only meal in a day that they can eat together and it upsets Selene that they can't do that now.

Serene almost spoke but Selene headed to their bathroom. She was already taking a bath while Serene is there eating not so well. She doesn't have the appetite to enjoy their food tonight.

Serene is eating slowly. Hoping that Selene will eat with her, but she was wrong. Selene is just really waiting for her to be finished.

After washing her plate, Serene walked towards their bedroom, and when she walks in, it was the time that Selene went out to eat.

Selene went to their kitchen and ate a very small of food compare to her usual meal. She was waiting Selene to talk to her but she guessed she was wrong. A simple dish for a peace offering wasn't enough at all.

When she is washing her plate, tears are falling on her cheeks already. She's tough but at the same time emotional when it comes to her twin.

Having a misunderstanding with Serene is the last and the least thing she wants to happen.

When she went back to the room, Serene was facing the different direction, All She can see is the back of Serene.

She climb the bed and ready herself to sleep. But minutes after, she is not yet sleepy. So she got up and went to the small terrace of their apartment.

'Mom, Dada, Am I that so wrong? I want to fix the misunderstanding between me and Serene but whenever I'm almost ready to talk, she will avoid me. What am I gonna do know?' Selene said inside her head while gazing to the sky and watching the stars blinking.

She embraced her legs and rest her head on it. Minutes after, tears began to fall again. She was crying abs sobbing silently, not wanting to disturb Serene's sleep. She felt hopeless and defeated by just thinking that the only family she have was mad towards her.

"Are you just gonna sit and cry in there all night?" Serene said that made Selene look at her back.

As she see Serene standing there, she wiped her tears away immediately. Then she tried to stop herself from sobbing.

"What are you staring at? Do I look like a ghost to you to make your eyes wide open? Hmm?" Serene asked to her twin who looked so shock and still collecting herself.

"Why are you still awake, it's already late." Selene said sounding so formal.

"Pfttt. Hahaha stop that formal tone. It doesn't suits you." Serene said while laughing.

Selene was so confused while looking at her twin. It seems like one of them just lose their sanity. It's either her or her twin who's laughing in the middle of the night.

"What are you laughing about? Are you really awake or you're just sleep walking and at the same time laughing?" (837)

"You're just imagining things. I am wide awake. Come inside you'll catch a cold. Let's go to the kitchen and let's talk." Serene said without the smile on her face.

Selene blink a couple of times thinking if she heard Serene right.

"Are you coming or not?" Serene shouted from the kitchen.

And that's what brought Selene back to the reality.

"Coming." She shouted back and stood up.

She doubled check if she closed their door right.

When she walked towards the kitchen, there is Serene sitting comfortably in their chair.

"First of all, lemme say sorry for being so cold and prideful. I'm sorry for being too hard on you and sorry for making you cry." Serene said while looking at Selene.

What Serene said made Selene cried for the third time.

"Hey, stop crying. You're making me cry too." Serene said while wiping her tears.

"Sorry. Sorry for not listening. But I am saying the truth. I am following the sound that I am hearing. I am so curios to know where is it coming from. It's not my intention to offend you or upset you." Selene said while sobbing.

"It's not that I don't want to believe but I couldn't hear anything for real. No matter how much I want to hear the one that you're saying, I couldn't." Serene said a matter of fact.

"Let's not prolong this misunderstanding. We are both wrong and become prideful." Selene said.

"I agree. Come here and let me hug you, I missed you." Serene said and stood up and open her arms." Serene said cheerfully.

Selene went to her twin and hugged her back as tight as she can.

"I hope this will be the last fight we will have. You're my only companion and my only treasure." Selene said.

"Tsk. See? We just have to talk about things. As long as we talked about it, we can figure it out how to fix things. Again, sorry. I love you, Lilly." Serene said.

"I love you too, Riri." Selene replied.

They both laugh as they remember the nicknames they gave for each other.

And after a very long day, they were finally able to rest peacefully and sleep tightly.
