Chapter 2

After I had fully recovered from the fire, the Luna put me to work right away. I was only eight, so the thought of having such a young servant was really looked down upon. I don't blame them, seeing this really wasn't my choice to make. With that, I ignored most of the glares and stares along with the general bad talking. The days I spent serving the pack house I learned to cook, clean along with tending to change the sheets in the massive bedrooms. I was told to steer clear of the triplets as they were the future alphas, but how could I when I was consistently running into them around each corner or when I was cleaning. There was no end to them. I tried my hardest to stay as quiet and composed as possible when they tried to pick on me or when they would pull at my hair, calling it unnatural or creepy. I would sit there in my now run-down room for servants quietly sobbing, wishing my parents were still alive so that I wouldn’t have to deal with any of this. I couldn’t figure out why that night happened or how they died. All I knew was there were men after me. As soon as I was learning to get into a normal routine, Luna had summoned me to her office. I placed my cleaning supplies down then started to head up the stairs to her office. I fidgeted with my hands, nervous. Did I clean wrong? Was the food gross and cold? Did I say something out of line when those maids finally got on my last nerve? With a shaky breath, I knocked on the door, hearing a “come in!” I gently pushed the heavy oak doors open, peaking my head in, “Y-You wanted to see me Luna?” I asked shakily as her head was nose deep in what looked like a pile of documents. She sighed, removing her glasses from her face, placing them on her brown wooden desk, staring up at me with that same cold stare as the first day I met her. “Yes. Seeing as you are getting things into routine around here, you are going to have to continue your education. I can’t have an uneducated servant roaming about forever. I will be having you go to school where the future alphas will be attending.” She said her glare, never leaving my sight. I blinked a couple of times, there had to be a catch somewhere in there. “I’m sure you’re wondering why I am placing you in the same school. It’s simple, while you receive your education, you will also make sure to be their personal servant. To make sure that in case they need anything from you, then you will simply obey.” There it was, the pitch I was afraid of. I bowed, trying not to let the tears flow from my eyes. I couldn’t have a simple life anymore. “Yes Luna.” I said softly. “Good now that you understand you will be attending as soon as Monday. Make sure you don’t screw up or say anything you should not.” She said, waving her hand at me, dismissing me from her sight. Great. I bowed one last time before stepping out of her office. I let out a defeated sigh. Great! Just what will the moon goddess throw at me next? Shivering at the thought, I truly did not want to find out. Heading down the stairs, I picked up the cleaning supplies I had placed next to the stairs. Sighing, I trudged to the supply closet, placing the cleaning supplies back into the closet and shutting the door. I carried my feet to my room, opening the creaking door, then plopping on my creaky mattress. I wish my parents were still here. With that thought I ended up falling asleep.
