Chapter 1

{Lilly's POV} Huffing, I ran out of my hiding spot to see nothing but fire and destruction as I looked around to try and find my parents but could not see them, so I ran to my home as fast as my small legs could take me with tears blurring my vision heading into the destruction that was once my home. I managed to reach my house, the familiar blue shingles now tinged with black from the fires that licked the wood. I ran up the concrete steps and stopped at the doorway as my breath stopped, staring down at the horror as I saw my parents lying side by side in cold-blooded murder. My body racked with sobs. I couldn't even choke out at how gruesome their bodies looked. I shook with fear, just as I was about to turn around I caught the scent of rogues. It made my stomach lurch. Frantic, I looked around for a hiding spot, until a voice screamed in my head, making me flinch. “HIDE IN THE CABINETS YOUR SMALL ENOUGH!!!” I didn’t think twice and hid underneath the still intact cabinet where the sink lies in the kitchen. Careful to hold my breathing steady. “Where is the little girl?!” a gruff voice asked. “I-I don’t know! She wasn’t in the home!” A second strong voice stuttered all the while yelling in frustration. “Well find her!!” The first gruff voice shouted. “I’M WORKING ON IT TRAY!” The second voice screamed. Were they looking for me? I shook with even more fear, focusing on trying to be quiet. I heard footsteps inch closer as I had seen a shadowy figure approach through the cracks of the cabinet doors. “Keep calm, someone will help us!” The same voice insisted. Who are you? “You will know who I am soon.” If I didn’t know any better, I would say that was my wolf? But how? I wasn’t eighteen yet. I was only 8! The creaking of the floor snapped me out of my internal argument just as I thought I was done, for I heard a loud growl followed by a sudden thud. I gasped as the doors to my hiding spot were swung open, and an older looking guy stared at me with black eyes, then they turned to a shining blue color. I started to cry as he sighed, shouting at someone. “I found her!” He shouted as I saw a woman come into view. “Come on little one, you’re coming with us.” He held out his hands as I was hesitant to take them, staring at the people before me. “We don’t have much time! Come!” The woman shouted as I blindly grabbed the older guy's hand as they started to run with me out of my now-on-fire house. I huffed as I was being dragged to god knows where. We trudged on for what seemed like forever, my legs were trembling as they continued to drag me. I ended up tripping and falling flat on my face. “Come on! Stand up!” The man shouted. I flinched at his voice as my vision blurred, and I fell onto the ground, my surroundings becoming black. I blinked, my eyes opened as I was in an unfamiliar environment staring at all the luxurious furniture I was surrounded by, even the bed was like a soft cloud, soothing and warm. My enjoyment did not last long when the same lady I had seen that night walked in with a cold look on her face. She had someone push a red velvet cushioned chair to the side of the bed. She sat down so elegantly with class. She felt my forehead nodding as if she had a plan in mind. Was I going to die here? I asked myself, frightened. “My name is Luna Marie, the man you met is my husband. His name is Alpha Gregory. You will only call us Luna and Alpha. After you have recovered you will be working for us.” She simply said as if I was just another body to do bidding for the higher ups. I stared at her in disbelief. Why would she choose to rescue me if I am going to be doing chores? “Um…may I ask Luna… Why me?” I stared at her as a cold smile formed on her perfect face. “You are my best friend's daughter. It is only natural a godmother should take care of you.” She stood up, then stopped. “I will have one of the servants come to train you.” She went to stand, I grabbed her sleeve, staring up at her cold eyes. "Why save me, only to put me to work? I just lost my entire pack and I have no idea what happened!" I started to sob. Luna Marie yanked her sleeve away as she continued to walk away, leaving me with no answers, just misery and grief I can't fully process on my own as a child.
